Walter? Nicknames and your input please~

So I’m really stuck on a name for baby boy #2. Our first son is [name_m]Henry[/name_m], a name I always loved. I love classic, strong, not commonly used, male names. My grandfather’s name was [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and I am beginning to increasingly love it for a little cherubic pudgy boy (if he is anything like our [name_m]Henry[/name_m]). I like [name_m]Walt[/name_m] as a nickname but are there any cool nicknames I am not thinking of? For instance [name_m]Cole[/name_m] for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m] for [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_u]Rex[/name_u] for [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], etc. CAn you think of any unique nicknames for a [name_m]Walt[/name_m] by stretching it?

I’m not much help because I actually love the name [name_m]Walter[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Walt[/name_m]. There’s also [name_u]Wally[/name_u] and I guess [name_u]Terry[/name_u] could possibly work too. For what it’s worth I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Walter[/name_m] are adorable!

My Dad’s name is [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and in high school he went by [name_u]Wally[/name_u]. He goes by [name_m]Walt[/name_m] now though. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] sound great together!

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] is one of my favorites! I would use [name_m]Walt[/name_m].

Alt, [name_f]Aly[/name_f], [name_f]Altie[/name_f], Tero. I would probably even go with something like Ego - simply from Alter, which would likely become a playful pet name Alter Ego and just get shortened to Ego. I come from a bit nicknaming family so we can get pretty crafty.

Also, the middle name would help increase nn potential. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]Easton[/name_u] might be nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m], or even [name_u]West[/name_u]. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] might be Wax. Lots of potential.

I love [name_m]Walter[/name_m], very midcentury and handsome

The suggested Alt and Tero seem like a cool nicknames as well

Some more miscellaneous nicknames could play on the meaning- army leader?
I’m thinking something cute like [name_m]Major[/name_m] or [name_m]Sergeant[/name_m]

Came to suggest [name_u]Wally[/name_u] and I see it’s already down.
So I’ll just say how much I love it. I would adore meeting a little [name_u]Wally[/name_u]!

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Walter[/name_m]! Such a cute sibset

[name_m]Walter[/name_m] could be [name_m]Walt[/name_m], [name_u]Wally[/name_u], [name_u]Terry[/name_u]… [name_m]Will[/name_m]? But that could be a stretch…

I can’t see it on a child

I’m fond of [name_m]Walter[/name_m]; my maternal grandmother had two cousins w/this name. As far as I know they were always called [name_m]Walter[/name_m] rather than [name_m]Walt[/name_m] or [name_u]Wally[/name_u].

Thanks all, great ideas!

I love [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]Walt[/name_m], [name_m]Walton[/name_m], [name_m]Walden[/name_m], [name_m]Den[/name_m], [name_m]Welby[/name_m], [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m], [name_m]Waldo[/name_m], [name_u]Wallace[/name_u], [name_m]Ward[/name_m] – lots of W names.

I would name him [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and call him [name_m]Waldo[/name_m] or [name_m]Aldo[/name_m] for pet names.

I forgot my very favorite: [name_u]Wally[/name_u]!

Would Ret be a stretch? Last three letters of [name_m]Walter[/name_m] backwards?

I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] - it’s my number 1 boy name.

Alt, [name_m]Walt[/name_m], [name_u]Wally[/name_u], [name_m]Al[/name_m], [name_u]Terry[/name_u]…
I personally just love [name_m]Walt[/name_m].

I really like [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and I would choose [name_m]Walt[/name_m] for a nickname. [name_u]Wally[/name_u] is an option but I’m not a huge fan. I suppose you could use [name_m]Waldo[/name_m] at a stretch. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] sound great together.

I also have a dearly beloved grandfather named [name_m]Walter[/name_m], mostly called [name_m]Walt[/name_m]. When he was a boy, he was called [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] because he had such a pleasant disposition. I think [name_m]Walt[/name_m] is a great nickname, and if you wanna get more unusual, I think that Alt and Tero are great options I never considered. But, as you can see from “[name_u]Sunny[/name_u],” you never know what nickname will arise on its own! I think [name_m]Walter[/name_m] is a great name for you w/ [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I’m planning on using it as a middle name to honor my grandfather.

One nickname I didn’t see mentioned (could have missed it) is Wat/[name_m]Watt[/name_m]. Wat was actually a medieval short form of [name_m]Walter[/name_m] but I think it would be suitable on a modern child.

I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Walter[/name_m] as brothers!

I think [name_m]Will[/name_m] is a lovely nickname for [name_m]Walter[/name_m]. It wouldn’t be people’s first guess but they wouldn’t bat an eye after hearing “oh you can call me [name_m]Will[/name_m]”.

I had a great uncle [name_m]Walter[/name_m] who went by [name_m]Watt[/name_m] as an Adult Because he was became a train electrician .

Terry or [name_u]Wally[/name_u], but i think simple, classic [name_m]Walt[/name_m] is lovely. Maybe [name_m]Wells[/name_m]?

Henry and [name_m]Walter[/name_m] make a lovely sibset!
