Waverly Indigo Blythe

What do you think?

  1. Potential nicknames [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] or [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. Too much of a stretch?
  2. Does it sound beachy/ocean-y?
  3. Too “out there”? I normally don’t worry about this, but all thre names are less than common.
  4. Flow okay?

Help much appreciated. I hate to be a bother, but I really like to have all my ducks in a row when it comes to my name list.

I really like it! To answer your questions:

  1. [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] feels like a bit of a stretch, but [name_f]Indie[/name_f] doesn’t. Then again plenty of people have nicknames that aren’t obviously related to their names, and I like that [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] has such a positive feel.
  2. Not until you pointed it out  But even then it’s pretty faint. It has a slight more “hippy” feel than beachy to me, but I often think that with [name_f]Indigo[/name_f]. And it’s not a bad thing.
  3. No, it’s a great combination of preppy surname, hippy-ish nature name and vintage beauty. When I saw the heading I thought it was a birth announcement - not sure if that makes sense, guess I’m just saying it sounds like a great “finished” name
  4. I see no problems with the flow, but that could change depending on your surname (I just assumed [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are both middles).

Thanks! [name_f]Happy[/name_f] to hear some positive feedback. I’ll make sure to check out your blog!

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name combo, but I am not that good with flow of a name. I am one of those people that have to ask how a name combo sounds.
It does sound beachy now that you mention it but it is not an overt association. I like [name_f]Indie[/name_f] as a nickname.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! My name is [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], and I love my name. But my middle name is a pretty common middle name but it’s a family name, so I can’t really comment on the other.

  1. [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] and [name_f]Indie[/name_f] both feel like stretches, you’re not calling her [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] so why [name_f]Indie[/name_f]? But [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] is so positive, it could work. It reminds me of [name_u]Win[/name_u] - [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. My nn is Wave (to my school friends) or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (it’s like erly, but take out the r - to my camp friends). Personally, I like my nns and I like how unique and different they both feel.
  2. I’ve always thought of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] as water related, so yes. And [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] totally help with that nature feel. But I like it.
  3. I like the name, I’m a bit biased though.
  4. I think it works (I’m not great with flow), would [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] work better since waverly and indigo are both 3 syllables? But you have to say it with your LN because [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] sounds like a complete name, but if you threw in ex. [name_m]Smith[/name_m], then it doesn’t work because [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] ends in the th sound and so does [name_m]Smith[/name_m] and they are both 1 syllable, so [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] is better.

Thanks glinkies! Luckily, I want it to have a coastal feel. So I’m encouraged so far.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] [name_u]Waverly[/name_u]! Thanks for the input, because its always valuable to hear from someone who has the name themselves. I have always liked the nickname [name_f]Indie[/name_f], and [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] is my favorite long form of it. So I figured that with indigo as a middle, I could use indie as an occasional nickname. Your nicknames are lovely as well, I had considered them. (Along with Wavie). Him, I do like [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] as well…I’ll have to mull over which I prefer. I can’t really pair with my current last name, because I’m assuming ill be married by the time I have a little [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] to name, so my surname will change. Thanks again, [name_u]Waverly[/name_u]!

  1. Potential nicknames [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] or [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. Too much of a stretch? I think [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] is a bit of a stretch, but [name_f]Indie[/name_f] would be fine. I would want to use [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], though, because I think it’s so cute.

  2. Does it sound beachy/ocean-y? I don’t think so. I guess [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] sounds kind of beachy, and [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] could indicate water, since it’s a color, but honestly, [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] makes me think of forests more than beaches.

  3. Too “out there”? I normally don’t worry about this, but all thre names are less than common. Less than common, yes. Hard to spell, pronounce, or wildly unrecognizable? Hardly. I think it’s a perfectly sweet, offbeat, lovely name.

  4. Flow okay? Yes.

Thank you! I do love [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] in all its glory, as well. Hm, I was going for beachy, but I do like forests… Anyway, thanks for the support! I’m pretty solidly happy with this combo.

It’s beautiful name combo and beachy thing is positive, not negative. Flow is great and names are nice and safe yet uncommon.

  1. Potential nicknames [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] or [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. Too much of a stretch?

Definitely too much for me.

I love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], but the other two are way too much for me!

  1. Flow okay?

I suppose, but [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] is my number one ‘ick’ name - ie; It’s one of the ones I hate hearing the most. sorry! [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] isn’t bad though.

Sorceress: thanks so much! I agree with the beachy thing, that’s actually what I was going for. I appreciate the response.
[name_u]Haley[/name_u]: Haha, I know you and I have quite different styles, but thanks for the reply!

It sounds sort of indecisive to me - it’s a collection of names (lovely ones, but still) rather than a cohesive unit of a name. It can be hard to keep it together when using multiple middles.

Using [name_u]Wynne[/name_u]/[name_u]Win[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] is cute, but i like [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] better.

Technically, all of these names are unisex. If you didn’t have this thread in the “Girl [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names” forum, I wouldn’t have known for sure that it was a combo for a female since you haven’t stated the gender in your original post. It’s a little too unisex for my comfort level. It’s quite genderless which isn’t my cup of tea. You seem to be getting positive reactions so I seem to be of the minority opinion here.

[name_f]Spring[/name_f]: thanks for the input!
[name_u]Mischa[/name_u]:I see your point, but I hadn’t thought [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] was unisex.its something to consider, anyway. I really can’t picture [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] on a boy, and have only heard of it on girls, so I hope others think the same thing.

I actually think it is a feminine name. I couldn’t see [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] on a boy either.
I think I am a [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] convert, I quite like this name

I have a really hard time with [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] on a girl. The only [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] I know is 6’4" and has a beard.

[name_u]Win[/name_u] from [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] isn’t too much of a stretch, but [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] is. I like [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. The entire name itself is rather androgynous, and it’s a strange mix of styles even if it does technically have good flow.
