Ways to get to the nickname Bear?

I love the name [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and baby bear is so cute when they’re little. This is why I wouldn’t be brave enough to use it as a first name because it wouldn’t age well but I love it as a pet name and can’t give up on it!
I’ve had some ideas like ‘B’ names:
Barrington
[name_m]Benny[/name_m]
Names meaning [name_m]Bear[/name_m]/ associated with [name_m]Bear[/name_m]:
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_u]Auberon[/name_u]
[name_m]Espen[/name_m]
Names of famous bears:
Paddington
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]

Any other ideas as none of these are appealing to me? Thanks X

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]

I know you can use [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] for these so I think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] would work too! Good luck

[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] means bear as well.
Also Baron nn Bear would be cute

Another famous bear: Ruxpin (not that I necessarily think that would make a great name for a child)

My brother [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] was nicknamed [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as in [name_m]Jer[/name_m] the [name_m]Bear[/name_m].
My son [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] through Kindergarten (He now prefers [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]).

I notice you have [name_m]Benny[/name_m] but how about [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]?? I don’t think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] would be too much of a stretch from that and then if he decides it’s too ‘young’ of a nickname when he’s older there’s always [name_m]Ben[/name_m].
Your last name doesn’t happen to start with an R does it? Because
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] R___ (initials [name_m]Bear[/name_m]) would be pretty awesome!

I know a little guy named [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] whose parents call him [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. It’s adorable.

I also grew up with a [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]/[name_m]Jer[/name_m] called [name_m]Bear[/name_m] (though he goes by [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] as an adult).

We call our [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] “[name_m]Bear[/name_m]” or “[name_m]Ben[/name_m]-[name_m]Bear[/name_m]”, although that is a family nickname and not one we see him using otherwise – not because I don’t think it works as a nickname, but because we see it as a pet name and use [name_m]Ben[/name_m] as his nickname. However, I think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] works as a nickname for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], or [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] – as suggested above.

Name him anything you want and call him [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as a pet name. It doesn’t have to be connected to his given name.

@lovelygenevieve- [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is cute and I hadn’t thought of [name_m]Edward[/name_m] so thank you!
@freya_1983- I haven’t heard of Ruxpin before, it is definitely unusual.
@candacemarie321 and @habsfan- Thanks for the inputs and it has given me some options to consider, [name_m]Benny[/name_m] is cute.
@lk86- unfortunately it doesn’t! That is such a cool idea, maybe a criteria for future husband  haha. Thanks for responding with the great advice.
@gwensmom and @southern.maple- Thanks very much for responding and giving me faith in the usability of the name X

[name_m]Robert[/name_m] works for [name_m]Bear[/name_m]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Jesse[/name_u]? As in [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], What [name_m]Will[/name_m] You Wear? by [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] Carlstrom.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m]! I think [name_u]Oberon[/name_u]/[name_u]Auberon[/name_u] nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is very fun.

My mom started this tradition that she gave us all animal/bird/insect nicknames, and I’d love to continue it. I love [name_m]Bear[/name_m] so much that I plan on that being my first son’s “animal” name. And I get to call him [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. So if you want, you could probably do that, and just go with a name you really love.

Doesn’t [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] mean “bear”? What about [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m]?

[name_m]Barrick[/name_m] is a last name in my family (sounds like bear-rick)

@elixir103- Thanks, I like [name_m]Roibeard[/name_m] from that line of thinking actually.
@water- I’ve never heard of that and I’m afraid that it is just not my style as it is a feminine name for me.
@ashthedreamer- Oh my goodness I absolutely love animal nicknames! [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_f]Bunny[/name_f], [name_f]Cricket[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] are lovely to me! If you’ve got any ideas for names that these can be nns for then shoot them my way please! (The ideas at the moment are in my signature) Thanks, and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is cute!
@lillian85- Thanks very much for the suggestion, it sounds very regal to me X

It has to be [name_m]Edward[/name_m]! [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] ie [name_m]Bear[/name_m] Grylls.

I think that any name beginning with B would open up the nickname Bear…
though some names with pronunciation of syllables in common may be more intuitive than others (ex the suggestion of Barrick pronounced Bear-rick)

Maybe even Beau which is one letter away from Bear, it is a bit nick-namish but it is consistently in the top 1000 and a common enough name (at least in the US).

I like the Teddy names the best.

I think many B names could work.
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Bryant[/name_m], or [name_f]Brighton[/name_f], but you may dislike these if you want the name to look more similar to the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. If that is the case, then:
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]*
[name_u]Bradley[/name_u]*
[name_m]Braxton[/name_m]
[name_u]Blaine[/name_u]
You could also combine the first and middle names to sound like [name_m]Bear[/name_m] came from those, like [name_m]Braxton[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u] for example. Or [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] [name_m]Roman[/name_m]= [name_f]Ro[/name_f]-[name_m]Bear[/name_m], etc.

[name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t read all the comments. But I know a grown man named [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. He is the nicest guy! His real name is [name_m]Baruch[/name_m], but he has always gone by [name_m]Bear[/name_m].

[name_m]Bernard[/name_m]!! Means “brave bear.” I’m so surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned yet; it is my favorite bear name. The British pronunciation makes it much more handsome, btw- more like BER-nerd than Ber-NARD. Other variants of [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] include [name_m]Bernhard[/name_m], [name_m]Bernat[/name_m], [name_m]Bernt[/name_m], Bernd. I’m not sure I’d use any of these, but I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] for a girl, and I would definitely use nickname [name_m]Bear[/name_m].

Here’s a list I think you’ll find very helpful  http://www.20000-names.com/animal_bear_names.htm

@rollo- Thanks for the input, you reckon [name_m]Edison[/name_m] would work along the same lines?
@giinkies- Thank you for posting and that gives me confidence to use any name beginning with B so that’s great!
@ashleyjuliette- [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is cute and the mn [name_u]Reid[/name_u] works so well!
@babylove14- Thank you, I’m so pleased it can age well and doesn’t seem out of place- yay!
@shujayra- I am from the UK so the British pronunciation would be the one I’d go for but unfortunately a family member already has this name. Damn. Thanks for the site!X
