Hi Berries! Long time baby name fanatic, first time pregnant I have 3 Thomas’s in my immediate family that I’d love to honor with my baby’s name. Obviously, this is easy for a boy, but I’m wondering if you can help me come up with ways to honor these men if we have a girl? It may be impossible, but I thought if anyone could help me it’s the NB community. Excited to hear your ideas!
Perhaps you’d like feminine forms of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], such as [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f], [name_f]Thomais[/name_f] / Thomaïs or the more streamlined [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]? There’s also [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], which means “twinflower”, related to Thomas’ meaning of “twin”.
Maybe you’d like
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasin[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
I’m [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] named after [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. I always heard it was that or [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], which I do like because then you have the nn [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] which I think is so cute! I also like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ooma[/name_f] would be a unique option!
I like the [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] option. It’s not super close to [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but close enough I feel like.
Some of the [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] female takes are too much for me.
However, I did know a [name_f]Thomasa[/name_f] growing up and she went by Massy, and I always kind of loved that!
And I like the [name_f]Ooma[/name_f] option too.
[name_u]Tommie[/name_u], [name_f]Tammy[/name_f], [name_f]Tamsyn[/name_f], [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasine[/name_f], [name_u]Toma[/name_u],
I have a son named [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], after my great-grandfather, grandfather, and two uncles, and he definitely would have been a [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f].
I also like Tammas, which is the Scottish version of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and can also be [name_m]Tam[/name_m], [name_f]Tammie[/name_f], or Massie.
[name_m]Tomi[/name_m] / Thomi
[name_u]Toma[/name_u] / [name_u]Thoma[/name_u]
[name_m]Ulan[/name_m]
[name_u]Gemini[/name_u] / Emini
[name_f]Kissa[/name_f] - ‘daughter born after twins’ or ‘sister of twins’ in the African languages
[name_u]Echo[/name_u]
[name_f]Tameka[/name_f] - means twin
Tamitha
[name_f]Tavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tasmine[/name_f]
Teva
These don’t come from [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but they have similar sounds or letters
Tamar/Tamara
[name_f]Maisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]
[name_f]Tasha[/name_f]
[name_f]Asha[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] is one of my favourite girl’s names. [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is also sweet, basically the same name contracted.
These names may not directly honour [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] but if you reorganize some letters like an anagram these might work
Massie
[name_u]Sam[/name_u]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Tash[/name_f]
Ash(ley)
I think [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] or [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] would be the obvious option, but you could always go for other names that have some of the same letters in them, like previous replies.
[name_f]My[/name_f] ideas;
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f] / [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Twyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Tammy[/name_f]
[name_u]Toni[/name_u]
[name_u]Or[/name_u] you could put a feminine form of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] as your baby’s middle name
I adore [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] for a girl.
I work with a Thomena! It rolls off the tongue really easily.
I’m in love with the names [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] and [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]. [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is technically a truncated version of both. aand of course [name_u]Tommie[/name_u] or [name_m]Tomi[/name_m] on its own is also kinda nice.
Technically [name_f]Tomasa[/name_f] is the word for twin in a language i can’t immediately recall but could technically also work.
I know back in the day people used [name_f]Tammy[/name_f] or [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] as an honor name for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] too so bit of a stretch but not inconceivably so
similarly to other berries, i would also suggest tamsin. I think it’s super sweet!
also some t-names:
tallulah
tammy
tanis
thisbe
thistle
thyme
tinsley
tosca
i do hope you’ll find the perfect way to honor the important men in your life! good luck!
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] or [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] seem most intuitive, but maybe also [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]?
[name_f]Tamia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
I like the idea of a first and middle name combo like [name_f]Thora[/name_f] [name_f]Maris[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], or [name_f]Thelma[/name_f] [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] to fit in all the same letters as [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].
This is also a bit far out there, but hey… “Rhea [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] was an ancient nature goddess, mother to the twin founders of [name_u]Rome[/name_u], [name_m]Romulus[/name_m] and Remus.”
You might also want to explore beyond the literal meaning of “twin” and seek out names associated with meanings like “double,” “pair,” “two,” etc. and “twin” in other languages (for example in spanish Gemelos could lead you to Gemma). “Di” means two in Greek, so that could lead you to [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Diandra[/name_f], [name_f]Dianthe[/name_f], etc. “Nikki” as a Japanese surname means “two trees.”
