My grandmothers name is [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] and I’ll love to use her name as a middle. However I’m not sure if I like it if you get what I mean. What are your opinions on [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]?
Also would love some ideas for other ways to honour her…apart from [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ([name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] means [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]) which I really don’t like.
I really like the name [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] I have no idea why though! I would so use it as a middle I think it’s a gorgeous name.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] a lot. To me it goes with a lot of different names. If you decide to use it as a first then NN [name_u]Jory[/name_u] or [name_f]May[/name_f]-jee would be supercute.
I met an adorable little girl last year named [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] it really gave the name a fresh spin for me, and I would love to see the name rejuvenated
I really like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. I think it’s due for a revival and use. If you are not keen on Marg, [name_f]Madge[/name_f], or [name_f]Margie[/name_f] as a nn you could always do [name_u]Mars[/name_u], [name_f]Marcy[/name_f], or even [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
Some names that mean [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]…
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f]
[name_f]Rita[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mamie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
Or you always use any names with the [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- beginning. It’d be a subtle tribute, but I’m sure would be appreciated and still mean a lot, like…
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]/[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Marleen[/name_f]/[name_f]Marlena[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]/[name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]/[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f]
There are many other [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- names out there as well, these were just to name a few.
I think [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] would be lovely on a little girl; it was actually one of the top rising names in [name_u]America[/name_u] in 2013 (maybe because of the Game of Thrones character Margaery [name_m]Tyrell[/name_m]). It’s so strong and classic! Like people have mentioned, it has lots of fun, youthful nicknames - [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_f]Miri[/name_f], [name_u]Jorie[/name_u], Jorjie, [name_f]Rorie[/name_f]…
I think the best option if you don’t care that much for the name is to use it as a middle name or pick a direct form of [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] —*[name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a lovely options but I doubt anyone would make the connection and realize she was [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]'s namesake. You could also do something like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but, again, it’s a stretch.
I think [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is very sweet and if you were my friend, I would completely support you using it in the middle spot!
That being said, sometimes we just don’t like the names of people we’d like to honor. Since you don’t like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and basically every variation of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has already been suggested, I would like to propose the idea of using your grandmother’s initials as a guideline for naming a daughter; for example, if she is [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], your little girl could be [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
I really love [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] because although it might be seen as “dated”, it really is a beauty. I’m also a huge fan of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is classy, whereas [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is vintage and quirky (not that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] can’t be either of those things). I also really enjoy the nicknames that are offered: [name_f]Peg[/name_f] (for something that’s so turn-of-the-century, it seems relatively modern), [name_f]Meg[/name_f] (not really a fan of [name_f]Megan[/name_f] though), and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. There is also some medieval diminutives like Moggy and Poggy.
If you want something to sound more modern, Pegan is an interesting choice. It’s a Welsh diminutive of [name_f]Marged[/name_f]. Beggan is a similiar diminutive (Welsh Nickname Names: Iolo, Betsan and Llio | Nameberry). For a names related to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but doesn’t sound similar, there’s [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. A similar name to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] that is just as classy is [name_f]Margot[/name_f] (and her variants). I personally prefer this spelling, but most spelling variants are accepted. The [name_m]French[/name_m] use the beautiful appelation [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] which I know is very hot in [name_u]Paris[/name_u] right now.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] some combos I thought I’d share with you…
Zhuri would be pronounced like the last 2 syllables of [name_f]Margery[/name_f]. Zhuri Catiche, Zhuri [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], Zhuri [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], Zhuri [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].
