Ways to honour an Yvonne?

[name]Hi[/name] berries,
I’ve wanted to honour my great-grandmother, [name]Yvonne[/name] [name]Irma[/name] [name]June[/name] ever since I can remember however, I’m not a big fan of either [name]Yvonne[/name] or [name]Irma[/name]. I’ve contemplated using [name]June[/name], but I think I want something that is more obviously connected to her. Any ideas on how I can accomplish that?

Thank you in advance!

[name]Yvaine[/name] is pretty, and is a little like [name]Yvonne[/name]. [name]Iwona[/name] is the polish version of [name]Yvonne[/name]. Other variants are [name]Yvette[/name], [name]Ivette[/name] and Iveta.

[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Velma[/name] (kind of a mosh between [name]Yvonne[/name] and [name]Irma[/name])

You could try ivy? Also, [name]Yvonne[/name] means yew wood so it’s almost connected to ivy in two ways

I agree with Ottilie. How about Yvaine?

[name]Ivo[/name] on a boy is fantastic

I think [name]Yvonne[/name] is a beautiful name. Ignore the rather insipid take on the name in the nameberry database (fwiw, ‘[name]Antoine[/name]’ is described as a thinly veiled gay stylist in the same database). However, if you genuinely don’t care for it.

Yew trees have an immense historical, cultural and mythological significance. When pagan Europe was christianized, the yew tree was planted in every churchyard to retain links to the old religion and make the transition easier to accept, as the yew was revered for its evergreen nature, immense size, and longevity. The yew was a symbol of mourning since the ancient Egyptians; it was believed to have the ability to repel evil spirits and draw poisons into itself. It is associated with transcendence and transformation.

So, if you pass on the name [name]Yvonne[/name], you get all of that!

You can use [name]Yves[/name] or [name]Yvan[/name] on a boy, or go with [name]Yvette[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name] on a girl.

My suggestion is Yva, said the same as [name]Eva[/name].

Thank you all, I am quite fond of [name]Yvaine[/name], though I’m never sure of the pronunciation, does anyone know the correct way to say it?

I also like Yva/[name]Eva[/name] and [name]Ivo[/name], so thank you for those suggestions.

I am beginning to like the name [name]Yvonne[/name], and I love the history of the yew tree, a big thankyou to blade.

[name]Yvaine[/name] is ee-vayn

Is her maiden name usable? That’s the only new thing I have to add…

Thank you cristinamariane

Her maiden name is [name]Walker[/name], which I would consider as a middle name for a boy, thank you all the same.

[name]Evonne[/name]
[name]Yvette[/name]
[name]Evette[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
Yvian
[name]Evadne[/name]
Evonnia
[name]Evelina[/name]

[name]Erma[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name]
[name]Hermia[/name]
[name]Ermina[/name]
[name]Irmina[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]
[name]Irmine[/name]
[name]Irmgard[/name]

[name]Yvonne[/name] is a wonderful name. Y-names are just the best. I really love [name]Yves[/name] on a man, though it’s pretty close to [name]Eve[/name]. In looking for a way to honor someone named [name]Yu[/name], I was reading about the (intense) symbolism of the yew tree, and ran across the Welsh word/name Ywen. Sounds like [name]Ewan[/name], yuwen, eewen… Anyway, I love it for a boy and I’ll pass it on to you too!
