WDYT about Blake for a boy?

I had a student in my class last year whose name was [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. (I’m a teacher). He was super sweet, and he kind of brought the name to my attention.
What are your first impressions about the name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’ll move entirely to the girls’ side in a few years?

I think of the actress [name_u]Blake[/name_u]! I think it’s a unisex name so I love it on a girl or boy, with girls it gives more characters and I can see why given how it’s not the most feminine :joy: I think it’s more refreshing to see it on a boy! I love [name_u]Blake[/name_u] middle name combos too!

I’ve always liked [name_u]Blake[/name_u]! I’ve known a few, and I never get tired of hearing it. I just love the sound of it! Such a handsome name.
I also like it for a girl, I think the name feels a bit more masculine though.

I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] a lot, but it feels slightly dated on a boy to me. I think that’s why it’s growing in popularity for girls, but it still works well for a boy!

I slightly prefer it on a boy, although it can also work on a girl.

All the Blakes I’ve known have been boys. It’s nms, but it’s a great name nonetheless.

I have some personal associations that make it hard to like [name_u]Blake[/name_u], but it’s a perfectly nice name and I don’t see it too much these days. Most Blakes I’ve known are my age (early 30s) or older.
And while it’s seeing some use for girls, I think [name_u]Blake[/name_u] will remain pretty neutral. I see [name_u]Blake[/name_u] as more in line with names like [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u].

It’s best for a boy. I struggle associating it with a girl.

I think the only female I’ve ever heard of with the name is actress [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively.

I love [name_u]Blake[/name_u] for a boy! I didn’t even know it could be used for a girl until a few years ago, and even if it does completely move over to be a “girl” name, many girls names were originally boys. So either way I think it could work.

I definitely see [name_u]Blake[/name_u] as more masculine than feminine. It sounds a little boring compared to some other names but I do like it!

It has always felt like a boy’s name to me!

When I hear it for a girl (the only one I can think of is Lively) it just reminds me of girls named [name_u]James[/name_u]. Nothing wrong with it, I just can’t see it as anything other than a girl with a boys’ name. Maybe one day it will be different, but so far, it is what it is.
