WDYT: Odette

aw, i love odette! has a nice, strong sound to it, and is pretty easy to pronounce. sounds fresh while not being unheard of, sophisticated but wearable. i’d say it OH-det.

i think the suggestions of detta, ettie, dot/dottie, teddy, and otter would be adorable!

No no I agree, I love Odette in full :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: A cute nn is more of a bonus for me! Plus if I used this name irl, it’d be nice for her to have a nn option if she wanted it. Gosling is adorable term of endearment :pleading_face:

Yes I’m surprised to get so much positive feedback! Maybe it’s going to rise up here on NB soon. Although I personally never really see -ette names trend irl, so I think we’re safe haha. I actually really like Detta!

I love it!!

I like “Ettie”, “Dot” or “Dettie” for nn.

I adore [name_f]Odette[/name_f]! I’ve seriously considered it for my own list many times. A very dear friend of mine had a little sister named Angel!que 0dette, and Odette’s been on my radar ever since! She’s so dainty and sweet and unexpected and timeless. It also reminds me of [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u], which is really fun. I actually dislike Etta/Ettie and [name_u]Odie[/name_u], so I’m not sure I’d use a nn for her at all, really… but [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is only two syllables so I’m not sure you would NEED a nn. I would be tickled pink to meet a little [name_f]Odette[/name_f]!

@Greyblue I’ve never heard [name_f]Otter[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Odette[/name_f] before, now I love [name_f]Odette[/name_f] even more :pleading_face:

I think [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is stunning! It doesn’t need a nn, imo; it’s not long and so beautiful on its own that I personally wouldn’t want to shorten it. :slight_smile:

I don’t like [name_f]Odette[/name_f] very much myself but it’s a good name for other people. I knew an [name_f]Odette[/name_f] who never used a nickname so I think [name_f]Odette[/name_f] can stand on its own. But I think [name_f]Dodo[/name_f] or [name_u]Ottie[/name_u] could be cute.
