I’m really crushing on [name_f]Odette[/name_f] at the moment! What do you think of this name? (good or bad). Are there any nicknames you can think of for it, or do you think it should just stand on its own? Not a big fan of nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for some reason
odette is nice! although i could see pronunciation being an issue - how are you saying it? i usually pronounce it like UH-det rather than OD-et
maybe odie (rhyming with obie) could work as a nn?
I absolutely love [name_f]Odette[/name_f]! It’s been on my short list for awhile, and to me it doesn’t need a nickname. But maybe Dot/Dottie or [name_u]Swan[/name_u] bc of the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the swan?
Stunning name!! So chic, but warm
Neither of these have ever even occurred to me! I’ve always said oh-DET
I really like it! It reminds me of [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. FWIW, I pronounce it oh-DET. Dot/Dottie is a great nickname suggestion, maybe Dette would work, too?
I think it’s cute! I know of a celeb child named [name_f]Odette[/name_f] (from [name_m]Jared[/name_m] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] Padalecki). From what they post, it seems like her nickname is O.
I pronounce [name_f]Odette[/name_f] like oh-DET. I’ve only ever heard it this way but I actually don’t mind the uh-det pronunciation so I’m not too worried. I’m neutral on [name_u]Odie[/name_u], but I think I could warm up to it!
@Strawberry.Bunny I absolutely love Dot!! It does feel like a bit of a stretch, but I do really like it! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s intuitive enough to use irl? I guess if people could get on board with [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u], then [name_f]Odette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dot[/name_f] isn’t too strange right?
Yes! I used to follow them when I was younger and I started to fall for the name back when they announced it! O is a cute nn
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] is one of those names I would personally not use but that I absolutely love when I hear it on someone else! I say go for it!
I can’t imagine [name_f]Odette[/name_f] not being able to stand on her own!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]! It has a strong but graceful sound to it. I like [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] as a nickname.
Imho, no. And plus I had a friend whose name was [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dot[/name_f]. To me, it’s one of those nn that can work with any name. And I think it should be intuitive enough to where people might not be confused.
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] is one of my favorite names of all time, since first seeing [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] as a little girl.
I second [name_f]Dot[/name_f] or [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], I really don’t find it much of a stretch! Though I also don’t really think [name_f]Odette[/name_f] needs a nickname.
Extending on the [name_u]Swan[/name_u] thing, how cute would Gosling be as a term of endearment? Not an every day nickname necessarily but just a cute thing to sometimes call your little one. Like my parents used to call me Britterbug but that definitely wasn’t a name anyone else called me.
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] is cute, chic and bright! It’s fun but sophisticated, I really like it.
Lovely
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] is beautiful.
She’s elegant, reserved and has this dark academia vibe to me especially with the association with [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is a great choice and maybe [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] could be a sweet nickname. I think [name_f]Dot[/name_f] could be a stretch.
I’ve been crushing on [name_f]Odette[/name_f] too! I love [name_f]Dot[/name_f] but I’ve also been contemplating [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname!
Have also been crushing on [name_f]Odette[/name_f]!
I love her, she’s graceful and strong and magical, I love the image of shimmering swan lakes and fairy tales, but I also see an intelligent, grounded, confident woman. It’s quite underrated in my opinion, I don’t see it getting a lot of love. People seem to agree it’s a nice name but aren’t really using it a lot. I hope it stays that way lol
As for nicknames I’ve heard of [name_u]Odie[/name_u] which is not my style. I’d use Detta or [name_u]Swan[/name_u] personally! i don’t think [name_f]Dot[/name_f] is a stretch at all.
Odette is so sparky, distinct and cute!!
I think Odie, Dettie, Dot, Dottie, Ettie, Detta, or maybe even Otto or Otter could be nn
Loving the idea of Teddy too!!
I love [name_f]Odette[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]
