WDYT of boys name Tevin?

I’m still trying to find a boys name that starts with T that the hubs and I can agree on. We’ve recently been considering [name]Tevin[/name] (middle name will be [name]Edward[/name]- family tradition). Our other top name is [name]Trace[/name]. Any thoughts on these two?

[name]Tevin[/name] sounds like someone who can’t pronounce [name]Kevin[/name]. [name]Trace[/name] is ever worse.
What about [name]Tanner[/name], [name]Talon[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Tate[/name], [name]Tucker[/name], [name]Tyler[/name], [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Texas[/name], [name]Taj[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], Tellus, [name]Taft[/name], [name]Tristan[/name], [name]Timothy[/name]?

I think [name]Tevin[/name] is really bad. Not a huge fan of [name]Trace[/name], but it isn’t terrible. I like ashkez’s suggestions of [name]Tanner[/name], [name]Tucker[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], and [name]Timothy[/name].

What about the Irish name [name]Tevis[/name]? It sounds more distinctive than [name]Tevin[/name], which really would be confused with [name]Kevin[/name], but has the same bounce.

I dislike it. Sounds trendy / made-up.

I could get used to [name]Trace[/name]. You may also like [name]Teagan[/name], [name]Tegan[/name], [name]Trey[/name], [name]Trevor[/name], or [name]Travis[/name].

[name]Ah[/name]. I’m going to say the opposite of everyone else. I like [name]Tevin[/name]. I used it in a futuristic story for a man who ends up becoming the commander in chief of everything. Nameberry says it’s invented but according to two other sites I trust more it is of Celtic/Gaelic origin meaning either “beautiful at birth” or “fair, comely, kind, gentle”.

On the other hand, I think [name]Trace[/name] sounds sort of blah. I actually can’t figure out what everyone thinks is so bad with [name]Tevin[/name].

Anyway, I love it. I think it’s unique with out being overly trendy sounding or blah and if those other sites are right, it has a lovely meaning.

I think of [name]Tevin[/name] as being unisex. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be, but the only [name]Tevin[/name] I know is a woman I used to work with. [name]Tevin[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] is male, though, so that balances it out gender-wise in my mind.

[name]Trace[/name] sounds very country to me. Possibly b/c of the country singer by that name.

So it comes down to R&B or Country. I can’t really get on board with either, but I don’t think either of them is bad enough to be unusable.

I know a little boy named [name]Tevin[/name]. He must be seven or eight now. I disliked his name when I first heard it, and I still do; for some reason it sounds insubstantial, which I suppose is inconsistent of me since I like a few other “-in”-ending boys’ names, like [name]Robin[/name] and [name]Crispin[/name]. Because it’s unusual but similar to [name]Kevin[/name] and [name]Devin[/name], I also think it sounds like a mispronunciation. But I think I’d like [name]Tevin[/name] better with a long, sturdy middle name to give it some weight; [name]Edward[/name] is nice and weighty, though I’d personally prefer something longer. [name]Tevin[/name]'s parents chose [name]Allen[/name] for his middle name, and their last name ends in N as well, making the whole combo sound pretty flimsy and rhymey. His brother’s name is [name]Trevor[/name].

If dantea is right and [name]Tevin[/name] does have its own history, that gives it points in my book. Overall, though, I think I prefer [name]Trace[/name]. [name]Trace[/name] sounds sturdier and is less likely to be confused with other names, and [name]Trace[/name] [name]Edward[/name] has a better sound and rhythm than [name]Tevin[/name] [name]Edward[/name].

Best wishes!

[name]Tevin[/name] sounds made up. [name]Trace[/name], I could deal with.

Ok, I think we’ve thrown out [name]Tevin[/name]. Is [name]Tyson[/name] or [name]Titus[/name] any better? We like nn [name]Ty[/name].

[name]Both[/name] are great, but I would love to meet a young [name]Titus[/name].

I prefer [name]Tyson[/name], but I think it’s because I know a person with that name and the only [name]Titus[/name] I know is a dog.

I like [name]Tyson[/name] and [name]Titus[/name]. I know my husband would vote for [name]Titus[/name] because he LOVES [name]Roman[/name] names, but he also might snicker about the first three letters. He’s a boy, though, what do you expect? They are both so different. Maybe wait and see which one feels right for him? They both sound great with [name]Edward[/name] … and actually, even though it is so not my style, I’m really loving [name]Tyson[/name] [name]Edward[/name]. Very strong and handsome and different (in a very good way!).

Here are some links on the name [name]Tevin[/name]. This one seems alright but as a rule I’m not a fan of invented names.

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Trace[/name] or even [name]Tracy[/name] on a boy. It reminds me of the old west and cowboys. [name]Edward[/name] is a great mn.

Also love [name]Titus[/name]. I grew up with a [name]Titus[/name] and no one teased him about the first three letters. I actually think most of the kids thought his name was pretty cool.
