WDYT of Dougall?

Okay, just a quick question: what do you think of Dougall / [name_m]Dougal[/name_m]? Any combo ideas, etc? I love pretty quirky names, so throw anything at me in terms of combos. Thanks Berries.

I personally would not choose Dougall. It is spunky, fun, and unexpected. It has the nicknames of the more familiar [name_m]Doug[/name_m] and the sweet [name_m]Dougie[/name_m] (not sure what the best spelling of doug-ee would be).

[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Hamish[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Macauley[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Ewan[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Tavish[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Steffan[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Finian[/name_m]

Thank you so much @lovemysweeties. I really like some of your suggestions.

I was thinking:
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Moe[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Lemuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] (thanks @ilovemysweeties!)
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Abner[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] Aslan

Any thoughts on these combos, Berries? Also, which spelling is better : [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] or Dougall?

In the UK, I think [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] would be out because of the [name_u]Magic[/name_u] Roundabout reference and the intellectually challenged priest on Father [name_m]Ted[/name_m]. However, if you’re not from the UK, you probably don’t know what those programmes are.

It’s kind of a cute, almost silly, name to me. Something about the “oogle” sound just doesn’t seem entirely serious, like it’s a funny nickname or something, too much like the word doodle. Of course I know it is actually a traditional name with a long history, but it doesn’t have the gravity of [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], for example, or even [name_m]Donal[/name_m]. I would cross [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] right out, sounds like a kids’ TV character. [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Lemuel[/name_m] is too matchy. You need something really solid and grown-up to go with [name_m]Dougal[/name_m], in my opinion. [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Abner[/name_m] work the best from your list.

[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]

I think its a super super cute name, but like the previous poster, this isn’t a name for the UK!

I like:
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Otto[/name_m].

The mn Aslan is amazing but not with [name_m]Dougal[/name_m]?

I really like [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] or [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], and the nn [name_m]Doug[/name_m] or [name_m]Dougie[/name_m] is adorable. I love [name_m]Felix[/name_m]!

[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] seems nicer to me.

Sorry, not going to be much help here as I can’t take this name seriously (it’s my dogs name). But here are some suggestions:

[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]

Am with jackal, totally magic roundabout and father ted. I think it’s a fun name but not sure for a child, maybe for a pet pooch.

I unfortunately don’t have any middle name suggestions right now, but I just want to say that I think [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] is a fun-sounding name. It has a similar feel to [name_m]Hamish[/name_m], at least in my opinion. I also prefer [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] over [name_u]Douglas[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] mind went straight to the Father [name_m]Ted[/name_m] character. I think [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] would be more wearable than [name_m]Dougal[/name_m].
