Thoughts?
How is it pronounced?
I love [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m]! It’s a common name where we live. It’s vintage, fun, french. It can fit a little boy, a teenager or a man. I think it’s a very good choice
Gah-spahr
Is it the name of the jerk in [name_f]Beauty[/name_f] and the Beast? Thats what immediately comes to mind.
Nope, that’s [name_m]Gaston[/name_m]
I’ve never seen it spelled this way, only as Gaspard. I love it in French but unfortunately I think (for me) it looses something in translation. As an English speaker I prefer Casper for myself/a future kid. But if you are looking for a French name Gaspar is very handsome!
Edit: I assumed French because I live in France and it’s fairly common here. But I don’t as really know if Gaspar is used in other languages/cultures, so I realize I may have made some incorrect assumptions.
I can’t really get over the “gasp” part. I much prefer Casper/Caspar.
[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] European choice, pronounciation might me a tough one on an American kid but he will sound sophisticated when he’s older
Nothing wrong with it but I personally prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]
I actually really love [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m]. It feels like a anciently fresh alternative for [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]!
[name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] is the portuguese and spanish variation of [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]! It is very uncommon where I live, but I think it sounds refreshing nowadays!
Outside of the US it might work better, but I think a kid in the US with this name could get teased with “Gassy” a lot. For that reason I also prefer Casper/Caspar or [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] as others have suggested
I like it – strong, handsome, distinguished but also a little clunky-quirky in an English-speaking context.
I love it. It’s one of my favourite guilty pleasure names in Spanish. There’s something quirky and vintage about it, but it sounds familiar at the same time. Sadly, it’s one of the Three Wise Men name, so it’d be like naming your child [name_m]Claus[/name_m] in the States.
I also love [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspar[/name_m].
There is a french actor who lives in the US I believe: [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] Ulliel
