My husband and I love the name [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but we don’t like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].
What do you think of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] as a first name? Is it too short? We have a long unusual surname, so we prefer to have a short first name.
I don’t think [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is too short! It works nicely by itself, especially if you have a longer last name. And although it could be used as a nickname for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], it doesn’t feel too nicknamey, and it stands alone well.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Feels like plenty of name, especially if you don’t like any of the longer forms. And as someone who has a long, difficult last name, I am very thankful to have a short-ish first name.
Agreed with all of the above posters! I love [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] but haven’t gotten on board with any longer versions, so it’s on my list as a stand alone name. Good luck!
I absolutely love [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], I think it’s fine as a name in its own right.
I chop and change between having [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] on my longer lists, or some longer forms, such as [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Gwenith[/name_f] (different origins to [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]) and Gwennan.
I like [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and don’t think it’s too short at all. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s short, it has a nice traditional feel and doesn’t sound nicknamey at all, which is one reason why I don’t like some short names.
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] can definitely stand alone! I can think of plenty of other ways to get to [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] as a nickname, but it sounds like a short name works better with your last name anyway.
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] could work as a first name. It’s short, sweet, and not too common / not too rare of a name to use. It’s easy to spell and could age well.
