I recently came across a baby named Joash and was curious what you thought of the names given how uncommon it is. I googled it and it comes from the bible. Although personally not my taste it does go with his brothers names that are also biblical and start with a J.
I wouldn’t be sure how to pronounce it. Is it [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-AHSH or [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_u]ASH[/name_u]? When I first saw it I assumed it was a biblical name though so it certainly fits that theme, to me.
Interesting, “obscure biblical” was exactly my impression!
I like it. I also slightly wondered whether it was a typo- possibly because my brain was expecting [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] or [name_m]Josiah[/name_m].
I would pronounce it [name_u]JO[/name_u]-ahsh.
I like it. It feels strong and no-nonsense but also has a nice soft sound. I prefer it to [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] or [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], actually.
One of my favourite biblical names. I’m surprised we don’t see it more. I much prefer it over the other ‘ash’ names such as [name_m]Asher[/name_m], and also prefer it over [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] etc.
