WDYT of Jodi?

I’m writing a story and one of the characters is going to be named [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]. What do you think of this name? Also, is there a possible full name with [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] as a nickname?

Though I do find it to be very 70’s (most [name_u]Jody[/name_u]'s I know are in their late 30’s), I do like [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]/[name_u]Jodie[/name_u].

I think I read somewhere that [name_u]Jody[/name_u] is a diminutive of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] (not sure on this at all though), so [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Jodi[/name_u]’ might work. Or maybe [name_f]Jordana[/name_f]? If you had first beginning with [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- and middle beginning (or ending even) in [name_f]Di[/name_f], that might work. I guess it depends how ‘far-fetched’ you want to get…

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Jodi[/name_u], though it does remind me of one of my favourite authors, [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] Picoult. I think [name_f]Jordana[/name_f] may work, but really, [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] is a stand alone name.

[name_u]Jodi[/name_u] would be fine for a character, though I’m not fond of the name personally. It feels like a ‘mum’ name to me and seems…stuck in that era.
One of my close friends is [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] and we call her Jodes

[name_u]Jodi[/name_u] ultimately means from the Hebrew [name_u]Yehudit[/name_u] (praise). [name_u]Jodi[/name_u], was originally a pet form of [name_f]Judy[/name_f], itself a pet form of [name_f]Judith[/name_f].

Can use [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]

[name_u]Joan[/name_u]

[name_f]Jonna[/name_f] pronounced [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Ah[/name_m]

[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]

[name_f]Joy[/name_f]

I would not personally use [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] but I find it to be okay. It does seem very 70s and 80s to me. Depending on your story and character the name could be very fitting.

I think its very dated for use today, but depends what age your character is.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] personally I think it’s to tied to actress [name_u]Jodie[/name_u] [name_m]Foster[/name_m]!
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though she spells it like [name_u]Jodie[/name_u] with the “E” on the end.
