WDYT of Nate?

I love the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] (really dislike [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] though) but feel with our surname it may be too long. I love the nn [name_m]Nate[/name_m] but was wondering if it could be used as a stand alone name? Or is it too much of a nickname to be taken seriously as a first name?

I think it could be used as a full name. I agree with you, I like [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] a lot, but I strongly dislike [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]. [name_m]Nate[/name_m] seems a good option if [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is too long with your last name.

I know a [name_m]Nate[/name_m] that is just that and he has no problems. I think [name_m]Nate[/name_m] would be taken just as seriously as a [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. If you like, I wouldn’t hesitate to use it.

I think [name_m]Nate[/name_m] is perfectly usable on its own as a first name, one syllable nickname-type names are very handsome [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I say go for it!

[name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love [name_m]Nate[/name_m]! I think it’s fine on it’s own.

[name_m]Nate[/name_m] is gorgeous, a real honest and strong name but not boring or characterless

Definitely works as a stand alone

(I agree with you about loving [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] but strongly disliking [name_m]Nathan[/name_m])

I agree that Nate is very usable as a first name. I think it would age well and he would have no problems with it.

Yes, I completely agree. I’ve grown up with guys named just Jack, Nate, and Max…and they have had no issues transitioning to being adults and professionals. I say go for it!
