WDYT of [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]? I really like that it’s two syllables and rolls of the tongue easily, as well as can be shortened to Nol (nole) which is another name I like. Is this name really trendy right now though? I don’t want to use a name that will feel dated in 20 years. What are some similar names that are definitely not trendy?
I don’t think [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is a “trendy” name in the way [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is. I think it’s more trendy in the way [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is. Like [name_u]Everett[/name_u], to me it’s a classic surname name that shifts in popularity and right now it’s hitting one of those more popular phases. I don’t think [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is a name like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], etc. that could easily become dated and tied to a certain decade. Moreover, I know two [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]'s over twenty so I don’t think it’s a name that people are just starting to use now like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
But if you want similar options, [name_u]Noel[/name_u], [name_m]Joel[/name_m] & [name_u]Noah[/name_u] might be what you’re looking for.
I love [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]. It is soft, yet strong. I think it is a great name and I don’t think it will be dated because it hasn’t been extremely popular and it is not a new name. I know two [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]'s and both are in their 20’s. A similar feeling name that I thought of is [name_u]Galen[/name_u].
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I love love love [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]. I echo what the above posters have said:
a.) It’s not trendy. It’s getting a bit more popular recently, but it’s still an old sounding classic name. I know one [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] in his 30s. And I think that’s it?
b.) It’s definitely ‘soft yet strong’. Those are my favorite kinds of boy names. It sounds like a woodsman or a ball player, but also a gentle soul.
I feel like Gaelic names in similar vane to [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] are all sort of getting more popular these days. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they’re older classics.

I adore [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]! 2 similar names that I love equally and feel are just as “strong but soft” are [name_m]Roland[/name_m] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]. It feels modern not trendy and the sounds are appealing. [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Coleman[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] came to mind as alternatives
I like it too. It does feel a little trendy to me, but that might be because I’m in the UK where surname names in general are experiencing quite a rapid boom at the moment. It’s not crazy popular and I don’t think it will date to this era.
