I have just come across it on a different site. i didn’t think it was an actual name at first considering its the name of the talking pole on chuggington. I thought it was more of a nickname for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f].
But needless to say its quite a spunky, upbeat name… [name_m]Just[/name_m] looked more in to it and its the female version of [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]!
[name_f]My[/name_f] son is obsessed with Chuggington. The talking pole is called Vee. Zephy is a train(I think she is green & brown). I do kind of like it as a nickname though.
I highly doubt that Zephie is the female version of [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]. It sounds like a nn for [name_f]Zephyra[/name_f] or [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] which ARE female variants. Since your daughters both have full names, I would choose another full name for the third one. Here are some suggestions of names/words that end in an “ee” sound.
To be honest, it sounds made up. It could be a playful nickname for a boy named [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] or [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u].
I second the suggestion of Zélie. Also, what about [name_f]Zofie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zofia[/name_f]? [name_f]Zofie[/name_f] mimics the sound except for the first vowel.
Thanks but I’m not interested in name suggestions, as I was simply asking what was thought of the name.
The other site that I got my information from says and i quote ’ Possibly derived from Zephyros - the Greek god of the west wind. Pronounced ‘[name_m]Zeff[/name_m]-ee’, emphasis on the first syllable. Variations include Zephy, and the male equivalent is [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]’
It sounds like a nickname for Zehpyra and [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]. It’s not really any different than [name_u]Steph[/name_u] or Stephie to me. All nickname, not enough substance to be a given name.
I knew a girl named Zephie for several years in Girl Guides. I think she spelled it Zephi? Anyways I thought she had the coolest name, and even when I was a kid I was obsessed with names, so I told her all the time “you’re name is so awesome!” so she thought I was a freak. But I never forgot the name. I prefer the spelling Zeffie, and would totally name my future daughter that. Except [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]/Zeffie…maybe too similar? Zephi is good too though.
Perhaps a little similar to sofie… 9 althought i love that spelling of sophie and also sofia- prefer it to the PH versions) it was just a name I had come across when looking at names for my friend (that’s another thread on here asking for suggestions) defo a cute nickname i think!!
Thanks, but just to clarify that i’m not actually after any suggestions for my own future names, 2 ee sounding names in 1 name is not very nice imo.
