WDYT of these middle names for Catherine?

We’re not finding out the sex until birth, but our current top choice for a girl is [name]Catherine[/name], although we’re disagreeing about the spelling. I want [name]Catherine[/name] for family reasons, and don’t really care for [name]Katherine[/name] at all, while DH thinks [name]Catherine[/name] is okay, but really loves [name]Katherine[/name].

As for the middle names, these are the current contenders:

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Very classic, but maybe a little too safe. Also, if hubby doesn’t agree to the [name]Catherine[/name] spelling, our second choice for the first name is [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] - Probably our current favorite, since [name]Victoria[/name] was high on both our lists.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Zoe[/name] - [name]Zoe[/name] is my all-time favorite name, but he only likes it enough to use it in the middle. This is probably my favorite combo, but a part of me kind of wants to hold [name]Zoe[/name] in reserve in case he changes his mind for a possible future daughter.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] - The initials spell a word, but it’s a fairly neutral one, so not a big deal. I think it’s really pretty.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] - He doesn’t love [name]Felicity[/name], but he’s been coming around to it lately. This was my original [name]Catherine[/name] combo; I love how it can mean “pure happiness”!

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Meredith[/name] - There’s a “th” in both names. I don’t think they sound bad together, especially since the "th"s are found in different syllables, but I don’t know…

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] - I think this is hubby’s personal favorite. I really like it, too, but there are others I love more. Might be a nice compromise to use the middle name he loves most if he’ll give in on the C/K issue.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] - This was another one of his suggestions. I wasn’t a huge fan of [name]Luna[/name] at first, but it is kind of growing on me.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Maria[/name] - Fresher than [name]Marie[/name] in the middle, but I’m not hugely excited about it. He loves it, though.

What do you think about these combos and which do you like best? FYI, I pronounce [name]Catherine[/name] with three syllables, and our last name is one syllable if you want to judge based on flow, although I think they all sound okay.

I, too, vastly prefer the C. I think it looks softer.

I really love these -

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] - I adore [name]Victoria[/name] and I love how timeless and classic it is. You can’t go wrong here.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] - I love how spunky and lively [name]Felicity[/name] makes [name]Catherine[/name].

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] - Again, [name]Luna[/name] gives [name]Catherine[/name] a little quirk, I love it.

I love the name [name]Catherine[/name] btw. I also prefer it spelled with a C.

I tend to lean towards more whimsical middle names, especially with a name as normal and classic as [name]Catherine[/name]. I really like [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name]. It gives [name]Catherine[/name] a touch of magic.

I also like middles with a meaning, so [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] are my second and third favorites.

I much prefer [name]Catherine[/name] spelled with a ‘C’ as well. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is by far may favorite from your list. It sounds beautiful and the meaning is absolutely wonderful

I say if there is a chance of [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Zoe[/name] for any future daughters, you drop those from you MN list.

I think the strongest (based on sound, and your comments) are:
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]

In that order… I like the compromise of [name]Luna[/name], but I think the strong “n” at the end of both names is too much. for the 3 above, I think that the softer mn helps differentiate from the first name. and I gave you a one-syllable last name when choosing.

Good luck. I too love [name]Catherine[/name] with a “C” - it seems more [name]Regal[/name], maybe because of [name]Catherine[/name] the Great of [name]Russia[/name]. IDK. I also like [name]Cate[/name] with a “C”, or [name]Cat[/name]. So many nickname options if you choose. Or not… because [name]Catherine[/name] is beautiful as is.

I love the way [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] sounds. So elegant.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] are my favorites. I vastly prefer [name]Catherine[/name] with a C too!

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is my favorite.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is my favorite. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] would be my second choice. [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] my third. =]

Personally, my favorite is [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. I think if you and your husband are willing to compromise so you can use a C and he can choose a middle name, you might be able to find the perfect name! I personally prefer the C spelling, it’s less common and sounds more “pure”.

I hope this helps!

I also prefer [name]Catherine[/name] with the ‘C’! I really like [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]! It’s a more uncommon name paired with the classic (but still classy!) and who could not love that meaning?! I think [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is a really nice combo too since it’s another uncommon duo. [name]Elizabeth[/name] is always a nice choice - same for [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name]. My favs are [name]Felicity[/name] & [name]Luna[/name] though!

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is my favorite. I love the quirkiness and mystery that [name]Luna[/name] brings to the very classic [name]Catherine[/name].

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is my favorite, it sounds so feminine and lovely. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] would probably be my second choice, especially since it’s something you both seem fond of. [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] gets my third vote… Come on, the K is not that bad. =]

All of the combs you have are fantastic! My personal favorites are: [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]!

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is my favorite and would have good syllable balance with a one-syllable last name.

I prefer [name]Katherine[/name].

I like [name]Olivia[/name], and [name]Victoria[/name] in the middle spot.

I also like the idea of [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elena[/name].

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is beautiful. [name]Catherine[/name] is serious and respectable; [name]Luna[/name] is fresh and unexpected.

I prefer it to be spelled with the K but C is fine too. My favorite on your list is [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name], I think it’s a perfect combo. I also love [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Olivia[/name].

Thanks, everyone! I’m glad to see that most of you agree with me on the C/K issue. Now just to convince the hubby!

Based on what everybody’s said, I think we managed to eliminate a few from the list. Nobody seems to care for [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Meredith[/name] or [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Maria[/name], and those were my least favorite choices anyway, so they’re off. And I really do want to reserve [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] as possible sister names, so they’re gone, too.

That leaves:

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] Felciity
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Luna[/name]

A question: Our current favorite [name]Elizabeth[/name] combo is [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think using [name]Sophia[/name], which also has a “ph”, for the middle name of [name]Catherine[/name] be too much, assuming we use both names for sisters?

I love [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Veronica[/name], too! But [name]Alexander[/name] is a very strong contender if we have a boy, and [name]Veronica[/name] is another name I’d prefer to use in the first spot.
