I’m surprised no one has mentioned this already, but [name]Hamish[/name] is a form of [name]James[/name]. I would take that off the list.

If [name]Ezra[/name] is rising, why not [name]Ira[/name]?
Well, personally I don’t think [name]Miles[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds bad at all.
[name]James[/name] is a top contendor for a first son for me, and I love the name [name]Miles[/name].
I have only not considered [name]James[/name] [name]Miles[/name] as a combo because our surname
is also one syllable and also ends with a Z sound. That, I think, is too much.
But my husband’s father is [name]James[/name] with that last name, and it works completely.
Which is why I think [name]Miles[/name] [name]James[/name] would also work.
I agree matchy names aren’t always ideal. But if there’s no name you like equally,
I don’t think it’s awful and it also makes the name more memorable.
The other sounds of [name]Miles[/name] and [name]James[/name] are pretty distinct.
It’s not like you are proposing [name]Mark[/name] [name]Park[/name] or [name]Mark[/name] [name]Clark[/name] or something : D.

That said, if you’re committing to looking elsewhere…
