I’m interested in what people think of the name(s) Harold/Harald? I don’t really see it being talked about so maybe that’s a bad sign lol… I find it to be charming
Do you have a spelling preference? What vibes are these names? Does this name pair well with a brothers names?..
I think it’s a good name, and it goes really well with the hypothetical brother names. A little dated maybe, but in a way where I think it’s ready to come back.
I honestly really like it! I’m a massive fan of [name_u]Harry[/name_u], and I find old man names charming. It definitely hasn’t made as much of a revival as something like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], but I think it’s on its way, and its old mannishness is charming. [name_m]Harold[/name_m] has a very buttoned-up, [name_f]British[/name_f] image to me, whereas [name_m]Harald[/name_m] feels very Norwegian. It’s a pretty familiar name there, and I know a [name_m]Harald[/name_m] from Norway who goes by [name_u]Halle[/name_u]! With your sibset I definitely prefer [name_m]Harold[/name_m] - I think it goes really well!
I like Harold/Harald, especially the [name_m]Harald[/name_m] spelling, though I think [name_m]Harold[/name_m] goes better with the hypothetical brother names. It’s definitely unique and, unless the name reaches a new level of popularity soon, he will likely be the only one in his class (definitely a benefit).
I find it a bit heavy and clunky but not in a cool way plus, I think he’d possibly just become ‘Harry’ where I am, and I dislike that name so…
I think it would fit with your others! [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] feel very regal.
I worked with a [name_m]Harold[/name_m] years ago who was so sweet, so I think of him instead of an old man. He was in his 30s at the time. I can see it making a comeback at some point.
I don’t think it’s ready to come back. I’ve never met anyone with the spelling [name_m]Harald[/name_m] (but I don’t live in an area with a lot of Scandinavians). It’s clunky in an awkward way, not a cute way.
I like it, fits in the “vintage and uncommon but familiar and easy to spell” niche with [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_u]Howard[/name_u], … I’d spell it [name_m]Harold[/name_m]. I don’t think it needs a nickname but I could easily see [name_u]Harry[/name_u].
It does bring the Hey [name_m]Arnold[/name_m]! character to mind but not a deal breaker.
