[name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Gray[/name] [name]Lennox[/name]? I think this might be baby #3’s name and I want to know what you guys think. Opinions? Thoughts?
I responded on the other thread. Is [name]Gray[/name] of special significance to you? Because honestly, as a Seattlite speaking to a Portlander, I can’t imagine naming anything [name]Gray[/name].
I think you really only need two names. The US really is a 2-names-only society; second middles are logistical burderns. [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] is nice but doesn’t flow optimally, unfortunately. There are a lot of sounds in common, and no “harder” consonants to break things up or add emphasis. The ending sound in [name]Isla[/name] runs into the initial sound in [name]Ellen[/name] (eye-l[name]AH[/name] EH-llen).
I’m glad you’ve settled on [name]Isla[/name]-- it’s such a light, happy, sunny name (relief in the gloomy [name]Pacific[/name] Northwest). Perhaps you could pair it with something a bit weightier for the middle. [name]Even[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] would work ([name]Isla[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] [name]Lennox[/name] is a pretty kickass name).
Would you be interested in further suggestions for middles?
Oh please no! PLEASE no more MN name suggestions. The only reason I was considering two was because they’re family names and they have importance and I couldn’t decide on which one. As the DH is out at sea right now, I’m alone on this and the baby’s due in 4 months.
[name]Isla[/name] & [name]Ellen[/name] do blend into each other a bit & share some sounds. [name]Isla[/name] [name]Gray[/name] flows really beautifully. [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Gray[/name] is also nice
I love [name]Elena[/name] [name]Gray[/name].
As [name]Gray[/name] is a family name, I think it should take the middle spot. [name]Isla[/name] [name]Gray[/name] flows well; the harder G & R in [name]Gray[/name] anchor the liquid levity of [name]Isla[/name]. Unless you feel you really need to honor [name]Ellen[/name] as well, I would stick with [name]Isla[/name] [name]Gray[/name].
As another Seattleite, I agree completely.Although I actually love the fact that it rains a lot. I prefer cold weather to warm weather! :]
I do agree that the ending of [name]Isla[/name] kind of runs into [name]Ellen[/name].If it was just [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] I wouldn’t be a fan but [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Gray[/name] is wonderful! I think that [name]Gray[/name] breaks up the ending of [name]Isla[/name] and the beginning of [name]Ellen[/name].
I love that both middle names have family significance, but I noticed that your other girls have one middle name. I’m not sure if this is a stupid question, but would it bother you that [name]Isla[/name] would have two middle names and your other girls have one? I remember when [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Broderick[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Parker[/name] welcomed their twins, people pointed out that [name]Tabitha[/name] had one middle name while [name]Marion[/name] had two, and later in life [name]Tabitha[/name] would end up being jealous or something ridiculous like that.
Personally, it doesn’t bother me because [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Gray[/name] is beautiful, but I couldn’t help pointing that out.
If you went with one middle name, I think [name]Isla[/name] [name]Gray[/name] [name]Lennox[/name] would be fantastic. :] I like the idea of [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Lennox[/name] but that has too many l sounds going on and the repetition of len with [name]El[/name]-[name]LEN[/name] [name]LEN[/name]-nox is a bit much.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
I’m almost afraid to respond because I don’t want to make the process harder, and I’m afraid I have (regretfully) negative things to say.
First, I too think 2 MNs are usually too much here, except when there is a good reason. If honoring two family connections is that important to you, use both unless you are almost absolutely sure you will have a fourth. [name]Grey[/name] will work as a mn for either a boy or girl.
Next, I agree that [name]Isla[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] is difficult to say.
But, most importantly, I have a similar problem with [name]Isla[/name] [name]Lennox[/name]…eye-la-le-nix. I HATE saying that because I do love [name]Isla[/name].
Are you completely devoted to [name]Isla[/name]? If so, go with it…the whole thing. It’s not overwhelmingly difficult, and the middles won’t matter so much in the end.
It doesn’t flow too well for me, but it isn’t the worst combo I have seen. I like both [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Ellen[/name].
Gorgeous just as it is. I know an adorable little [name]Isla[/name] and love the name, and having two middle names myself, I love it on others as well. Flows very nicely. Works great with [name]Lennox[/name],
Good [name]Luck[/name]
