The name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m]?

I probably won’t ever use, I just want to add it to my guilty pleasures list and was wondering what you fellow Berries thought of the name. All comments welcome and please don’t sugar coat

It’s not my style, but I have to say it sounds timeless and dashing. I would maybe tweak it to [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]. Also, I pronounce [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] with a hard H, but many people do not. Not sure which you were going for.

I think it flows well. I’m on the fence about [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] myself, can’t decide how I feel about it. [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] is a name I wish was more popular here in the states.

I am not a huge fan of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] on its own, but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] sounds almost regal. I love it. But I do second the pp who suggested tweaking it to [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], it feels like it comes out easier that way.

@mayday & vblanch: I like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]! I see what you mean about it coming out a little easier. Thank you for the suggestion. Also, I pronounce [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] like hugh-go.

@twinsage: I agree! I wish [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] was more popular here in the US. I would feel more able to use it and not have to worry about getting strange looks or anything.

I love it. I know a [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] (6). It is very popular here in Australasia!

It’s a wonderful combo! I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] (though I slightly prefer [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] too). It’s a great name, such a shame it’s a GP.

I like it! I guess it’s my style since I like both names on their own, but I don’t see how it falls into GP territory at all!

It’s NMS, but if you like it, go for it. I ran in to a little [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] the other day. His sister is [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I had a feeling all the way home from the park that I knew that combo from somewhere. As I was falling asleep, it came to me. The Vicar of Dibley

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I love both names. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] sounds quite dashing. It’s a shame that you don’t feel you won’t use it. I certainly would if I could.

It’s not my style and I’d never use it, BUT I think it’s a really interesting name! It feels very rich, and dignified. I’d love to meet a little boy with this name.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] sounds classy, distinguished, and intellectual. It’d make me so happy to use one. Depending on your circle and community, it could be totally usable in the USA. In my accent (pretty standard [name_u]North[/name_u] American), Ts often get flattened to Ds so [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] and [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] would sound the same; I prefer the look of [name_m]Alastair[/name_m].

Thank you for the kind words everyone! The reason it’s a guilty pleasure name is because I don’t think I could ever get my boyfriend to agree to it. He likes more common names. We already have [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] picked out for future children and I’m not sure it would fit with those. Also, with where I live, the name probably wouldn’t get a lot of love. I live in an area where people pretty go with known and sometimes popular names. Maybe by the time I have kids the name will be more accepting…

Neither name is my style but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] is truly quite stunning!

It’s an absolutely beautiful combo- I’d use it for sure.

I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] isn’t my favorite, but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] sounds nice together.

I really like it! [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is our go-to boys name if baby #2 (when we are ttc) is a boy.

[name_m]Both[/name_m] names suit each other perfectly and are a great combination. I live in Australia and am an Anglophile and these names have a perfectly British feel! I agree with others that they are classy and distinguished. They also suit from a child through to adult. Personally, I prefer [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] over Alaidair.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] is great! I love both names separately but together they are very handsome.

I love [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] and not too fond of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I do like the sound and flow of [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] though.
