WDYT - Whitaker?

Boy, due this month, siblings [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. Wondering what you think of [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m]. Last name is [name_m]Martin[/name_m] (so yes, two surname sounding could be an issue, but no big deal).

Our backup name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], which is nice, but thought we’d try out something a little different.

Not sure I am too fond of [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] but I do know that I feel very neutral about [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (personal opinions). [name_m]How[/name_m] about, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], and -

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m]! It has always been a favorite as mine. Also, I like that it doesn’t continue the “a” trend, which may become harder to maintain if you have more children. [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] is very handsome. And if you are worried about the “surname” overload (which I don’t feel) you could give him a very solidly first name-like middle.

It reminds me of [name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m], a british singer who sings kind of cheesy songs, that would be the major reason for me personally to not use it because he is really famous here. Aside from that, I don’t really like that the name sounds so much like a last name.

[name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] is fab! It’s a chocolate company here (whittakers) but I still think it sounds classic. Nn [name_u]Whit[/name_u] is usually heard around [name_u]Whitney[/name_u]?

[name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] is awesome! I wouldn’t worry at all about using a traditional surname as a first- especially if you are in the US… It’s a common and well-accepted practice here.
Why I love [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] for you:
It’s unusual.
It’s easy to spell and pronounce.
It’s a traditional name (nothing made up!)
It sounds dignified, but gives you the up-beat nickname [name_u]Whit[/name_u].

Thanks everyone. We’ve got our list to go to the hospital. Front-runner [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m], runner’s up [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].

And he’s here…arrived 7/10 almost 3 weeks early.
We went with [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m] ([name_m]Harold[/name_m] after my husbands grandpa). and we love it. Thanks for your help!

What a sweet name! Perfect!
