Any outlandish or awkward names you used to like as a kid? I can’t say that I have any, but my siblings have a wealth of them!
Ahem, for instance: this [name_u]Christmas[/name_u], I got a stuffed animal tiger for my littlest brother. He promptly announced that he would name it Bloodstripe. And the lion that I got for my other brother was named Bloodrock. So original, am I right??
I named a toy cheetah [name_u]Golden[/name_u] [name_f]Beauty[/name_f] when I was five
I made up the name Tymminney when i was a kid, spelled like that. I thought it was so beautiful! [name_f]Lo[/name_f] and behold, i told a friend about it as an adult and she went to high school with an actual Tymminney (spelled less outlandishly) who was named after her dad, [name_u]Timothy[/name_u], kind of like a [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] for [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] equivalent.
I had two goldfish that I named [name_u]Midnight[/name_u] and Daylight Had a weird love for the names [name_u]Azure[/name_u] and [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] which I both despise now lol
One of my dolls was named Ottoman, like the furniture. I had gotten her for christmas when i was like 3, so i was probably trying to say ornament, but it stuck.
Aww, that’s sweet lol! I read a book when I was young about a princess named Amethyst, and then I went through a period when I really wished it was my name.
That’s funny! And adorable lol. I once had a fish named Lone Survivor because all the other fish in the tank died, and the previously unnamed Lone Survivor outlived the other fish by several months–despite the very infrequent feedings and perpetually dirty water
I had a zillion stuffed animals, but I’m pretty sure most had uninspiring names like Stripy the zebra. I remember that I had a blue jay whose name was… [name_u]Blue[/name_u] Jayer (as in, “I’m blue jayer than you”??) and one of my favorites was a talking zebra that was named Zickity, even though it literally said “My name is ZIGGY the zebra”… but this was the 90s and the audio wasn’t good, so I guess I misheard it lol
I remember when I first started naming people (for stories, etc) I was obsessed with the name [name_f]Kandy[/name_f]. I thought it was soooo beautiful and cool I’m glad my naming style has evolved from that
I named my first guinea pig Splatter. Yes, Splatter. I thought it was a superb name - loved hearing it being called out, never questioned the raised eyebrows when I said it…
Me and my brother also had this big tiger toy called Bemerley - where did we even get that from? Still, we both thought it was excellent.
I had another tiger called [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_u]Light[/name_u] - I don’t know where I got that, but I loved it as a name.
I love how kids naming things can go from ‘Fluffy’ or ‘Cat’ to ‘Bloodrock’
Yesss And you reminded me, when I was really little, I had a stuffed cheetah which I named Spotsy Little. Over time, it shortened to just Spotsy. I’m not sure why I even added the Little part in the first place
When I was like two I named a doll… Kahcock. It was one of those potty training dolls too, which makes it way funnier. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom says she regretted letting me name the doll whatever I wanted lol
[name_f]My[/name_f] first pets were two goldfish named [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and Fishy… riveting, I know. [name_f]My[/name_f] next fish was Bubu (‘buh-buh’).
[name_f]Blodwyn[/name_f]! When I was small, I’d feel queasy and upset at even the mention of “blood” until… I discovered the name [name_f]Blodwyn[/name_f]. One of the original names (if not the one) that drew tiny [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] to Nameberry at all.
