Weird or Usable?

Gemeriwen

It is a smoosh name which normally I don’t like but for some reason this one appeals especially the nickname options of [name_f]Gem[/name_f], [name_f]Meri[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

What do you all think useable or weird?

Weird and useable as a middle name if you really want it. I only see a keyboard smash that created “germ-win.”

I’m sorry, but the first thing I thought when I saw that name was “Gemeriwen? Gesundheit.” Definitely get germ comments. How is it pronounced? On which syllable is the stress?

For some reason I keep seeing the word “germ” in this!

Not very usable as a first name, but I am a big believer that very few things are too weird for a middle name.

Looks like an STI.

It is a bit “too much” to smoosh the 3 names. But maybe just 2 would be more usable?

Meriwen
Gemawen / Gemawin
Merigem
Winmeri / Wynmeri

I think it’s a bit too much. How about [name_f]Merewen[/name_f]?

It has an appealing sound, but lookwise, it’s too close to germs for me, or looks vaguely like it should be a [name_m]German[/name_m] word

I would just use Merry-Wen or Meriwen + Middle name [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] or something like that.

Thanks for your insights everyone! I suspected it would be a divisive entry. And no doubt will be a gp name.

Another question for those happy to answer if spelt Gemehriwen (Gem - ehri- wyn) does it mitigate the germ look?

Thanks

I think it’s a bit too much. It’s extremely unfamiliar and I can see it getting mispronounced a lot. I don’t think changing the spelling will necessarily make people pronounce it the way you want.

Gemeriwen, sister to Jabberwocky?

Maybe do a combo: [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] Meriwen is pretty!
