On 11.28.13, we welcomed Zeller [name_m]Baird[/name_m].
I waffled on Zeller for a long time as I was afraid to choose too unusual of a name, but I always came back to it. Zeller is my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. It means “monk” or “prisoner.” [name_m]Baird[/name_m] we chose for the meaning of “poet” and to honor the bears that are the mascots for the school where my husband and I fell in love and studied poetry in our tenure as English majors.
We mostly call him Zelly or [name_m]Zel[/name_m], but other names are used: Z-[name_m]Bear[/name_m], Zeltron, [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m], [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] Cub, Fuzzy (after Fuzzy Zoeller), [name_m]Zel[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u], Zelly Belly, and [name_m]Zed[/name_m].
I am so, so happy with our name choice, and, of course, to have him join our family. He is an easy baby and we can’t wait to have another! As of now, we think our next names for a future baby would be [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] [name_f]Loreen[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] Carr for a boy.
Thanks for all your support - even in choosing this very unusual name for our Thanksgiving baby!
