Well water/sulfur water and formula?

I’m planning on breast feeding , although my mother and sister didn’t have much luck.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] incase my baby won’t latch or I can’t produce enough milk , I’ve been researching usa formulas (terrible)
The best one out there is called babies only so I ordered a couple cans
But at my house we can’t drink our water , it’s smelly sulfur well water … I don’t even use it to cook noodles even if I boil the water.
My sister said the nusery water is actually really bad for babies. And when I was little I got bottle rot from my mother using only bottled water for my formula .
I’ve looked online and found NOTHING about if u have non drinkable tap water… any ideas?

Geez, that sounds like a tough situation. Can you not just use plain bottled water? I just googled nursery water because I’ve never heard of it, and wow… Seems like a really good way to get some more of your cash!

My advice would be (disclaimer - never bottle fed) to get some plain bottled water and then to spend time researching breastfeeding. [name_m]How[/name_m] to boost production, how to overcome obstacles, where to find support, those sorts of things.

Good luck with the water thing, sounds super tricky. What about getting one of those big water coolers they have in offices? What do you drink? I can’t see why bottled water is not ok for babies? Wouldn’t bottle rot only come from sweetened things, juice etc…

We used distilled water in the big dispensers and my doc said that was fine.

Bottled water is fine and certainly cheaper than “nursery water,” but later on down the line you’ll want to think about fluoride once your son has some teeth.

Our water was drinkable, but when we traveled even to areas with very potable water (we drank it), she would get colicky, so we used regular bottled water on trips. The only concern would be lack of fluoride, which is in most children’s and infants vitamins anyway. Are you sure bottle rot was from the water used? That typically comes from issues like drinking a bottle in bed at a later age, drinking too much juice or something, or lack of fluoride.

Distilled water for formula. I don’t even know what “nursery water” is. Our baby section at Target has jugs of water geared toward use for babies and formula needs, but it is just the same as distilled water and costs the same too.

You can use bottled water. We had to supplement with formula with my daughter and just used tap water most of the time but we did use bottled water when we were on the road or out and about. When I was a baby (thirty years ago) you could only use distilled water for formula but they’ve improved on it since then so bottle water is fine.

We formula fed our son. We are on city water so we just used tap water, it was fine. No need to boil, which you are supposed to for well water.

The doctor did mention that if we had a well, we should use distilled water bc bottled water is unregulated. I don’t know if that’s true or not, its just what she said. I think bottled water is just tap water from someplace else, though.

We had a well with sulfur water as kids, but my mom breastfed all of us. We did drink the water straight once we were weaned, I don’t know, I guess we were just used to it? I had it once as an adult and it was so gross. But I do remember taking flouride tabs as a kid, since the water wasn’t fluoridated. It wasn’t a big deal or anything, though. And no cavities!
