I think [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] works fine as a full name the only [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] I know is in her late 50’s maybe early 60’s so it seems mature to me. Out of those two options I prefer [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] as [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] sounds too old fashioned.

If you go to the page for the name [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and scroll down to nicknames and variations, the names [name_f]Wenda[/name_f] and [name_f]Wendaline[/name_f]/[name_f]Wendeline[/name_f] are on there so those are possible options for [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]. Personally, I kinda like [name_f]Wenda[/name_f].

I voted for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] better, but when I say [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] I feel like I get the “wen” sound for [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] better from [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].

wendy has to stand alone. it was invented for peter pan and is not short for anything.

Thank you for sharing your opinion - I am aware of this and somewhat agree. However, I addressed this in my question, if you would so kindly read again (especially the bolded/underlined and italicised.

Sorry just doesn’t work for me.

And that’s okay, but remember this isn’t for you. Thank you for sharing your opinion though.

I’d do [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Wendy[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] aunty’s name is [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], her full name, so I can’t really come round to it as a nickname. [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] makes the most sense as a full name, though I prefer the original [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] spelling. I also like the [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] nn.

[name_f]Wendy[/name_f] would be fine as a stand-alone name but I think [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is a good longer name option.

I love [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] but it’s just [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] to me, without any nicknames. I prefer [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].

Why are you being aggressive? If you don’t want people’s opinions on a name why ask on a forum. Confused. [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] is gorgeous by the way.

[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] it’s a beautiful Welsh name meaning silver and can also have [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nickname.

I love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]! I prefer nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], but [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] totally works, and is quite cute! x

PS: Ignore those ignorant posters who cannot read the question properly, lol! x

Thanks everyone!

I’ve never seen it spelt [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], but I do like it!

C@29: I like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] just by itself, too, but was just exploring options for [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]… and that way I can use both!

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] got my vote (though I will mention preferring it spelled [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]).

I like [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] - it could work beautifully as nickname for [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] if that style you like.

I’ve never heard of [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] before, but I love [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. However, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is rather close to my favourite boys name ([name_u]Elliot[/name_u]) so I’m trying to avoid it :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you
