I’m just looking for general thoughts on this name. I stumbled on an old name list that my SO and I put together and I completely forgot that we had both liked this name.
So, what do you think of it in general?
[name]How[/name] popular is it where you are? (Saying generally where you are helps with this too!)
Does it evoke any particular image or personality?
I have really been considering this name for my own list lately. I have been considering [name]Weston[/name] NN [name]Wes[/name]/[name]West[/name] as an alternative, just not sure which I would like better. I think it is a great name though. It seems very masculine and handsome to me.
I have met several here but none under the age of 25 so I think it would be fresh for a baby.
I imagine someone very Southern, charming and handsome. I can see him being a country singer or something like that. Could just be because of my area but I cannot shake the Southern connections.
[name]Wesley[/name] is my husband and his Grandfather’s middle name. I would like to use it for a middle name if we have another boy. It’s not really my regular “style” although I do think it’s handsome. I really love the nickname [name]Wes[/name]- it seems so friendly and laid back. The name [name]Wesley[/name] makes me think of cowboys and I don’t know why. I think when I hear “[name]Wesley[/name]”, my brain connects it to the word [name]West[/name].
“[name]Wes[/name]” doesn’t. [name]Just[/name] the full name. I also think of the character in the movie The [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name] although I think his name was actually “Westly”…could be wrong about that. I think it could sound all American or British-y depending on what you pair it with.
I like the name I just don’t looooove it.
I love this name - probably because our closest friends named their son [name]Wesley[/name]. So far he only goes by [name]Wesley[/name] and I don’t know if it’s because they are anti nickname or one just hasn’t stuck. I also really like the name [name]Weston[/name] and would consider it for the boy we’re having in [name]April[/name] if it wasn’t so close to our closest friends kid’s name!
As for popular he is the only [name]Wesley[/name] I know except for my cousin who is in his 50’s.
I’m just bumping this because I was thinking about it again and almost posted about it before remembering I had already done so last year! The main post still sums up my feelings, and I’m still caught on the fence. I always like it when I think about it, but I tend to always forget about it!
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] nn [name]Wes[/name]. It’s on my short list. I think [name]Wes[/name] is such an awesome nn. I only know of one, he’s in his early 20’s.
I have grown to sort of like [name]Wesley[/name], nn [name]Wes[/name]. Up until recently, it’s always been blah and a bit boring, if I’m being honest. I love [name]West[/name], and [name]Wellesley[/name], though. I really love the new show on USA, Common [name]Law[/name], though, and there’s a [name]Wesley[/name] nn [name]Wes[/name] on that, and he completely suits what I would imagine the best of a [name]Wesley[/name]/[name]Wes[/name] to be–book smart, street smart, a bit charming, a good guy. I kind of see a bit of a cowboy along with [name]Wesley[/name], as well. I don’t know any little boys named [name]Wesley[/name], the only [name]Wesley[/name] (or [name]Wes[/name]) I know is the husband to a former classmate of mine.
I actually really like it. I only know of one person with this name…I think he is in his 20’s (he is one of five brothers that have names starting with W…one of them had to have a Wes__ name lol). I do not know if he goes by [name]Wes[/name]…I have only heard him referred to as [name]Wesley[/name]. I live in Ohio.
I’m intrigued by how many people get a “cowboy” feel from it. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen for a name that people have defined in that way. I’m really loving it though. I think it’s pretty versatile. Unfortunately it may be a bit rhyme-y with the last name but…still it’s working it’s way into my heart. Seems people are getting a mostly good vibe from it.

I think [name]Wesley[/name] and [name]Wes[/name] are both very handsome. I do imagine a cowboy-ish type of guy. [name]Even[/name] though they’re sort of matchy, I automatically want to put [name]Wesley[/name] and [name]Wyatt[/name] together for brothers.
Interesting. I actually know a little [name]Wyatt[/name] - for me it’s 100% cowboy, but [name]Wesley[/name] nn [name]Wes[/name] seems more versatile to me. Always love nameberry feedback because I always learn something new!
I like [name]Wesley[/name], and the nn [name]Wes[/name]. I also like [name]West[/name]. I am have been teaching in [name]Texas[/name], and [name]Louisiana[/name] and [name]Wesley[/name] is not common.
I am a huge fan of [name]Wesley[/name], nn [name]Wes[/name]. To me it’s ‘porch sitter’ kind of name, that’s not too common (at least here in Australia).
I love [name]Wesley[/name]! It’s in my top three boys names atm. It’s not popular AT ALL where I’m from ([name]Adelaide[/name], Australia). I have known one [name]Wesley[/name] (nn [name]Wes[/name]) in my life and he’s now about 50. I think it’s a great name!
