Last night I came up with another name for our list, and DH loved it: [name]Archer[/name].
Come to find out, there is an [name]Archer[/name] Key in [name]Florida[/name] (we were married in [name]Florida[/name]!) as well as several other bodies of water from Michigan to Australia. There’s even an archer fish!
So what do you think- does it fit my sea theme, and go with brothers K_ai & F_inn?
Is [name]Archer[/name] [name]Leo[/name] too “astrological?”
[name]Hope[/name] you find some more inspiration in here somewhere!
Definitely a thumbs up for [name]Archer[/name] though, especially as both you and DH [name]LOVE[/name] it and it has special connotations for you both!
Thank you, I’m sure we’ll find another middle name that works. My only thought was, not sure I’m digging [name]Archie[/name] as a nickname- any other alternatives? We’re definitely big on nicknames- we even give our sons longer nicknames lol
There is a cartoon on FX (I think) about a james bond type guy called [name]Archer[/name] thats pretty funny. I think it would help make the name more recognizable and popular too.
I like [name]Archer[/name]! I think it works well with your sons, too. I think I slightly prefer [name]Leo[/name], but both are really nice. I’m not really into astrology at all, lol, so I didn’t even think of the connection… I recognized [name]Leo[/name], but not [name]Archer[/name] at all. But if others think it’s a big deal then maybe it’s best to find a different MN. For what it’s worth, I did like [name]Archer[/name] [name]Leo[/name]!
As for other nns for [name]Archer[/name], I can’t really think of any–what about just [name]Arch[/name]? I think that’s kinda cool in a GP-ish sort of way. I guess you could do [name]Ari[/name], too–it’s fairly popular as a nn for [name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arielle[/name]/[name]Aurelia[/name]/[name]Aurora[/name]/etc. for girls, but it’s also a legit Hebrew boys’ name…
I [name]Archer[/name] is great. The sea theme is more subtle than with [name]Kai[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] but it still works just fine. I love the nn [name]Archie[/name], it is actually a top 100 fn here in Australia and Im pretty sure in the UK as well but it musnt have taken off in the US yet. NNs could be [name]Arch[/name], [name]Ari[/name], [name]Archibald[/name], [name]Arkie[/name]??
[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Archer[/name], but unfortunately I think it means a shipwreck on the ocean theme. The three names together are definitely not going to make an obvious theme – not even vaguely. It would definitely have to be explained.
I think I’m ok with that, since I may actually prefer a more subtle theme anyway…Sometimes people go overboard on themes and it looks like they were trying too hard (and sometimes seems tacky?) so I don’t want to fall into that category lol Most people we encounter have no idea that [name]Kai[/name] means “the sea,” so I’m not sure my theme is obvious to the average person [that isn’t a name nerd like me] anyway?
The fact that [name]Archer[/name] is a little island in [name]Florida[/name] is so cool since we were looking to find a way to incorporate where we were married (can’t believe I never thought to look at the names of the [name]Keys[/name]…there are so many of them!) And on top of it, there’s an [name]Archer[/name] [name]Lake[/name] in Michigan- my husband grew up in Michigan. I’d love to be able to tell my future son that his name is derived from 2 special places for his Mom & Dad.
Still playing around with [name]Archer[/name] to see if it fits with our other boys. DH loves the [name]Archer[/name] [name]Leo[/name] combo, despite me pointing out the astrology issue. His point is, it’s not like we’re naming him “Sagittarius [name]Leo[/name].” [name]True[/name].
