I really like [name]Helena[/name] [name]Madelyn[/name], and I think it goes well with your other children’s names.
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is too repetitive to me, and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Claire[/name] sounds either kind of old or boring. [name]Claire[/name] is a pretty typical middle name nowadays!
I love [name]Helena[/name]!! It’s a beautiful name. I’m assuming you’re pronouncing it he-[name]LAY[/name]-na, right? If so, I think [name]Helena[/name] [name]Jane[/name] doesn’t have the best flow (because of the rhyminess). It’s a lovely combo otherwise. [name]Helena[/name] [name]Madelyn[/name] does flow well, but I really don’t like made-up spellings. I love [name]Helena[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name], though. I voted for [name]Helena[/name] [name]Claire[/name], which is gorgeous! All three choices are fine, though-- you can’t go wrong!
Thanks. I understand about the gratuitous “y” thing but it’s something Daddy is really in to so, I’m just going to go with it at this point.
We made the mistake of asking big sister what the baby’s middle name should be and now she is upset because we won’t consider “Wheezy” (from Dragon Tales) as a possibility. sigh This should be easier.
And Daddy thinks that someone at work has a daughter by the name of [name]Helena[/name]. I said “so? It’s not like we’re friends with them and hang out ever. Plus a lady at my work named her daughter [name]Meghan[/name] after our [name]Meg[/name] was born.” Am I nuts? Does it matter? I could see if we were friends or family, but not in the case of someone we may interact with once every other month.
Sorry. I’m getting frustrated and kind of whiny. I finally got him away from names that sound too boy-ish, names that rhyme and unfortunately in the process ruled out some of my own favorites. [name]Helena[/name] was the one thing that has been on both our lists and in our minds and hearts (combo of both our grandmother’s middle names.) Now if he is waivering… I’m going to need a chocolate milkshake, Boar’s Head brand pickle and a nap!
the ‘y’ is fine as the name is beautiful anyway you look at it.
I would leave it at No1. I am sure that he is just over having to think about names and on THE day he will be happy with this name.
best wishes and head off for that nap.
rollo
PS I am not a fan of [name]Claire[/name] I find it quite boring; sorry to offend all the [name]Claire[/name] lovers, (but it looks great with the ‘i’ spelling).
I love [name]Helena[/name] (I say [name]Helen[/name]-ah not Heh-[name]LAY[/name]-na but both are pretty). I like [name]Jane[/name] as MN depending on the LN. I like the name [name]Claire[/name] but not with [name]Helena[/name] :(. Good luck!!
What about [name]Eloise[/name]? As a first name or [name]Helena[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]? Weezey/Ouisie is a nn for [name]Eloise[/name], which would make your daughter happy. And it’s a gorgeous name.
Here’s a question for those who did vote. If the middle name was to be spelled without the “y”, would you have voted for it instead of [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Jane[/name]? [name]Just[/name] wondering if the spelling was a barrier. Thanks!
[name]Meg[/name] has come up with a few nn for [name]Helena[/name] that she is proud of. We may hopefully be over “Wheezy”.
