What About Vanellope?

what are peoples thoughts on Vanellope?

i think it is a sweet name that fit in with todays “trend” especially with [name_u]Van[/name_u] for a nn. i also find it mixes well with a lot of names. i think you could see a Vanellope and [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or Vanellope and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or Vanellope and [name_u]Monroe[/name_u].

• bonus for any combinations!

Doesn’t looks like a name to me. If you want to use the nickname [name_u]Van[/name_u], you could use [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. Although I don’t really get [name_u]Van[/name_u] either; you wouldn’t call your child Plane or Motorboat, I presume.

I really like Vanelope. I added it to my collector’s list (minus the extra ‘L’) when I first came across it in Wreck-it [name_m]Ralph[/name_m]. It didn’t occur to me at the time that it was a portmanteau of Vanilla and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Seemed like a genuine variation of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] to me. I’d prefer it had more history and meaning behind it but I still enjoy it’s look and sound. A fresh spin on a classic.

thanks for the feedback.

@kachenka:that is exactly what i thought as well!

I love that name! I think it’s so pretty and cool. I would spell it Vanelope though

Honest thoughts? I don’t think many people would know how to pronounce it, and I don’t like that it’s a smoosh of Vanilla and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].

I don’t think it’s usable, sorry. What about [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] or Merope?

Heck no. Maybe something like [name_f]Vanna[/name_f] or [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] to get the get the nickname [name_u]Van[/name_u] instead.

It looks terribly made-up, and quite unattractive. Why would you want to give a little girl the nn [name_u]Van[/name_u]???
