What are some beautiful French last names for my chraracters?

Hello berries,
You have always been so helpful to each other on this board and I wonder if I could have a little of your help too.
I am seeking a last name for my characters, a family of four: a mother, a father and two sisters. Parents are called [name]Simone[/name] and [name]Olivier[/name]/[name]Marcel[/name] - I haven’t decided yet on dad’s name so please choose the most appealing one or suggest others if you don’t like those. Teen daughters are Oliviene (olive-yeah-n, with soft “n”) and [name]Oceane[/name].
They live in [name]Quebec[/name], [name]Canada[/name] and are of French origin so I need a chic Frech last name. I have been playing with simple ones like [name]Rousseau[/name] and [name]Laurent[/name] but they don’t sound very chick and don’t exactly fit the criteria so I doubt I will use one of them.
If some of you ladies can come up if last name suggestions, that would be great because I am always at loss for them. [name]Link[/name] to the surname resource would be nice too.
Thank you for your time and replies!

Bilodeau is all I can think of… Because of Canadian actor [name]Jean[/name]-[name]Luc[/name]…

I have recently been playing around with French names too and I am partial to [name]Rousseau[/name] (but you mentioned that already and I agree, it doesn’t quite mesh well with your names).

I also like [name]Durand[/name], [name]Baptiste[/name], Lafontaine, Lefevre, Garnier, Duval, and Reneux ([name]Renaud[/name]).

You can find a pretty nice list here: Behind the Name: Most Common Surnames in France

Also - pardon me if something doesn’t look right. This is my first nameberry forum post ever!

(by the way, I can’t figure out how to make a signature…)

Thanks berries!
@issymforsythe, I like [name]Durand[/name], Lafontaine and [name]Renaud[/name].
[name]How[/name] to make a signature: if you scroll the page to the top, in the right corner you’ll see “[name]Welcome[/name], issymforsythe”", “Notifications”, “My profile” and “Settings”. Click on “Settings”, then on the setting page in the left bottom corner under “My profile” you’ll notice “[name]Edit[/name] signature”.
Click there and you’ll be able to make your signature here.

This page will be helpful to you - it’s a list of the most common surnames in [name]Quebec[/name]. They are quite different from the most common surnames in [name]France[/name], since the French who immigrated here were but a small subset of the total population of [name]France[/name] so different names proliferated.

These are some of the more fanciful ones you might like:

Choquette
Latendresse
Brisebois
Brind’amour
Jolicoeur
Lamoureux
Lelièvre
Castonguay
Deslauriers

Edited to add: Re-reading your description, I’m not clear on whether your characters are recent immigrants from [name]France[/name], or are supposed to be from [name]Quebec[/name] with French ancestry. Obviously the names I’m suggesting would be better for characters whose families have been in [name]Quebec[/name] for several generations.

Thank you very much,@ysaline! In fact, my characters have French ancestry but they are not immigrants themselves. I love a lot of last names you listed, they are wonderful.

My family has French ancestry in [name]America[/name], our surname is [name]Roux[/name]. My daughter is named [name]Mallory[/name], a French surname as well. [name]Both[/name] simpler and less poetic as some French names, but might let you be more fanciful with the first names. Ps. I prefer marcel for the dad.

Alair
Trosclair
Lavougois
Chriscémoix
Matoivé
Javrémois

I live in [name]France[/name] so maybe I can be of some help… Here are some well used ones…
Rouleau
Girerd
Charrier
Chevillard
Chavelard
Lhortie

You could try LaForce as it’s one of the names of my grandma on my mom’s side before they came to [name_u]America[/name_u] and changed it to Vorce.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about Bouvièr, Devaraux, or Beaumont??

Guys, look at when this thread was started! It is highly likely that this problem has been solved within the last 3 years…

What about Belrose? I have a friend who was born in [name_f]France[/name_f] and is 100% [name_m]French[/name_m], and this is her last name. To me, it sounds beautiful and chic

[name_u]True[/name_u] point @lillyart.
