You know, like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] sounds like ‘‘he is right.’’ And [name_u]Clair[/name_u] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] sounds like ‘‘clarinet.’’ How do you come up with pun names?
I would look for words or phrases where the first part/syllable is already used as a name! [name_u]Or[/name_u] names that sound like words
Something like…
[name_u]Jack[/name_u] Indabocks (Jack in the Box)
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] (polyester)
[name_f]Neva[/name_f] ____ (never ____)
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] Steady (slow and steady)
[name_m]Ben[/name_m] _____ (been _____)
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_f]Dia[/name_f] (no idea)
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] Full (graceful)
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] Kyes (gray skies)
[name_f]Misty[/name_f] Meanor (misdemeanor)
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] (anime)
There’s the infamous [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Noe[/name_u] lol
And also, if you want to go for out there, there’s one that my dad has a story about. (I can’t remember it though.) It’s [name_u]Gusty[/name_u] Winds lol
And then there’s the story of Bomanitials. There was this lady who hired a man do yardwork and stuff, and always called him Bomanitials. She actually thought that that was his name. Turns out his name was actually something like [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_u]David[/name_u] or something like that, and when they met, he told her to call him ‘by his initials’, but he had a really strong accent so it sounded like ‘Bonanitials’. She had been calling him that for years. “Hey Bomanitials, can you come do this?”
And that was my unnecessary story time lol
This probably wasn’t what you were looking for, but Bomanitials was just too good not to share!
I knew a girl names [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] and her parents picked it because… a mandolin. I’ve also heard someone say they wanted to name their daughter [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] [name_m]Cole[/name_m], which is literally just lyrical.
The Simpsons is a treasure trove of those for male names.
