What are your favorite middle names?

What’s that one name that you always result to for your middle name choice? I’m having issues figuring out what middle names I like myself.

Right now I’m really enjoying [name]Auden[/name].

What about you?

Well, most options that I consistently am drawn to as MNs are usually family names ([name]Jane[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], etc.).

I have several for boys I am consistently attracted to ([name]Elias[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Charles[/name], and [name]Henry[/name] particularly!), but I’m less sure for girls, haha. [name]Odette[/name]? I love [name]Zoe[/name] as a MN, too.

I love the middle name [name]Odette[/name]! I think it’s so classic! I’m leaning towards the more modern idea of choosing a middle name that means something, maybe it’s a family name, maybe it’s a word.

I currently go to school with a girl name [name]Hannah[/name] but her middle name is City, cause she was conceived in NYC.

I have the middle name for my first of each gender picked out, and we haven’t even conceived yet! A girl’s middle will be [name]Jase[/name], after my husband ([name]Jase[/name] is the nickname I call him, but I’m sure you can figure out what his real name is…and I will emphasize that I picked this out; he is too humble to suggest such a thing), and a boy’s middle will be [name]Dan[/name], after my dad (not [name]Daniel[/name], just [name]Dan[/name]). I find they sound great with any name I like anyway.

Middle names for me are for the family names. Luckily my family/fiance’s family has some really great name options.

[name]Claire[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Jeanne[/name], etc.
[name]Owen[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Ian[/name], [name]Patrick[/name], etc.

I really like the name [name]Henry[/name] [name]Tom[/name]. [name]Thomas[/name] is my father’s name, but I don’t like the idea of [name]Thomas[/name] as a middle name so I’m heading more towards [name]Tom[/name], it’s more me. I believe in simplicity.

We use family names, or variations of names to honor people. I tend to like some of the “filler” middles too like [name]Grace[/name], [name]Hope[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Joy[/name], etc. I also think [name]Claire[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Ava[/name], [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] make great middles. I also love [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Jayne[/name] which is a family name. I also like [name]Alexandra[/name] as a middle name. I also think [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] is a cute double-barrel middle name. (I got that as a suggestion from someone here on nameberry!) I think names like [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] make pretty more vintage choices.

Me too, but in this case my dad’s name really is just [name]Dan[/name]. Well it’s his middle name, but the name he always goes by. He’s just [name]Dan[/name].

[name]Lily[/name], [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name]. No idea why, but I feel like they go with a lot of different names and ___ [name]Lily[/name]! or ____ [name]Victoria[/name]! are always the first things that pop into my head.

Oh! And [name]Claire[/name], too - I always try to pair things with [name]Claire[/name].

I tend to like one syllable middles for girls, since my favorite girl names are usually multi-syllabic. So [name]Grace[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Gail[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Liv[/name],etc appeal to me.
For boys…no idea!

Besides family names the mns I can’t get past are [name]Charity[/name] or [name]Faye[/name]. OR (First Name) [name]Charity[/name] [name]Faye[/name].

I have a lot of odd/long middles that I think are too complicated/remarkable/challenging to use as firsts. I’m oddly fond of 4-5 syllable girls names and my husband is fond of Gaelic so the middle is where I tend to put options like that.

But as far as ones I tend to use over and over that go with everything:
Short and sweet - [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Clare[/name]/[name]Claire[/name], [name]Rain[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Rue[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Fern[/name].
Accent on second syllable - [name]Raquel[/name], [name]Sinead[/name], [name]Sabine[/name], [name]Tamar[/name], [name]Yael[/name], [name]Giselle[/name].

Girls: [name]Autumn[/name], [name]Bay[/name], [name]Belle[/name], [name]Briar[/name], [name]Cate[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Faith[/name]/[name]Faye[/name], [name]Love[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], [name]Skye[/name], [name]Starr[/name].
Boys: [name]Grey[/name], [name]Henri[/name]/[name]Henry[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Patrick[/name].

Girls: [name]Autumn[/name], [name]Bay[/name], [name]Belle[/name], [name]Briar[/name], [name]Cate[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Faith[/name]/[name]Faye[/name], [name]Love[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], [name]Skye[/name], [name]Starr[/name].
Boys: [name]Grey[/name], [name]Henri[/name]/[name]Henry[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Sterling[/name].

I have so many middle names, but here are some I plan on using:

Others I adore and might use:
[name]Isadora[/name] (might use as a first name)

And for boys, I plan on using these:

[name]Gideon[/name] or [name]Marion[/name]

Others I like and may use:
[name]Oscar[/name] (might use a first name)
[name]Vladimir[/name] (might use as a first name)

I do like [name]James[/name], but I think it is a filler.

[name]Fleur[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]
