Curious on how they are perceived out of [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. Thank you for your responses.
I don’t have a lot of Italian girl names on my list but I do love the Italian pronunciation of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Gigliola[/name_f]!
I am the opposite! I find the Italian prn. of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] very scratchy to the ears and I never liked it. But I always loved the [name_u]French[/name_u] prn of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and the [name_f]English[/name_f] one too…. But here it would be always pronounced a-lee-CHEH and not ah-liss so I have no chance to use a name I like in the way I wanted
I do not like [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] at all but I really like [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucio[/name_m]. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is okay but too bland for me… Though [name_f]Lucilla[/name_f] is wonderful
I like [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Aida[/name_f], [name_f]Carina[/name_f], [name_f]Chiara[/name_f], [name_f]Fabiana[/name_f], [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], & [name_f]Marta[/name_f]!
I feel like this is going to be very basic, but my favourites are:
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]
[name_f]Chiara[/name_f]
[name_f]Noemi[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ambra[/name_f]
[name_f]Isotta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauretta[/name_f]
I don’t usually look at/use Italian names but my favorites are [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Giulia[/name_f], and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f].
[name_f]Annunziata[/name_f]
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Chiara[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Faustina[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Giacinta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucrezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ludovica[/name_f]
[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Raffaella[/name_f]
[name_f]Renata[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
I also love the Italian pronunciation of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]!
All great names! [name_f]Carina[/name_f] is not so common in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] though, maybe because it is too “adjective”
Great names too! They do not sparkle for me as they are too basic for me, but I get the flair for you.
Many of your uc are ! (Anna, [name_f]Arianna[/name_f], [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] etc)
I adore [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], I also love the Italian pronunciation of [name_f]Alice[/name_f]!
i really like the italian pronunciation of celeste !! i used to have a friend whose middle name was this <3
i also really like:
annunziata
fiammetta
elettra
ginevra
eleonora
isotta
maddalena
ottavia
violetta
I like these too but I don’t like [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] because it is too Catholic (perceived as religious in Italy) and [name_f]Annunziata[/name_f] because it is religious + old lady in a bad way (like Gertrude)
I don’t know why you people on Nameberry like [name_f]Annunziata[/name_f] so much, for Italians it is like [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] or [name_f]Ethel[/name_f] mixed with super religious feeling Plus even without those connotations it has an overly … heavy sound
(but I actually like [name_f]Ethel[/name_f] and don’t find it old)
