What names do you always find yourself going back to as a middle name that either goes well with a lot of firsts or you just inexplicably love?
For example, on my girl name list, Fae always comes up as a middle combo. I got very attached to Finch as a middle name for a boy, but since we are using a one-syllable first name doubt we will use it.
Does anyone else have a random attachment to certain middle names?
There’s a mix of honour names and names I just like so
Girls: [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Maree[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
Boys: [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_u]Carter[/name_u]
For a girl, [name_u]Rose[/name_u]. It’s my middle name and my daughter now has it as hers. I think it goes with every single girl name out there. It is an honour name though (my great-grandmother was [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] which is why mine is [name_u]Rose[/name_u], and then I continued the tradition my mum started with the first born girl having the same middle name as mum). I also go for [name_f]Iris[/name_f] a lot as well.
For a boy, I always go back to [name_u]Maddox[/name_u], [name_m]Knox[/name_m], [name_u]Levi[/name_u], [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] (honour). A name that feels strong as my favourite boy names are soft and I like the balance.
For girls, these names come up a lot in middle spot: [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Rose[/name_u], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucette[/name_f]
For girls I often pair everything with [name_u]Rose[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], Clementine/Clemency, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] + [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
For boys I tend to go with [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_u]Robert[/name_u], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] + [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
I feel like I’m constantly cycling between [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] and [name_u]Solstice[/name_u]! I think part of the reason is because they are more uncommon, so they balance well with a lot of my classic first names. I don’t think I really have one for girls, but I do use [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] occasionally for feminine combos!
I like a lot of different middle names, but I find I have way too many boy combos with the middle name [name_u]Wolf[/name_u]. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u], [name_m]Damian[/name_m] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u], [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] Wolf… I just like it there even though I wouldn’t use it as a first name.
For girls, it’s got to be [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I feel like I consider her for almost any name I add to my list… and usually I have multiple combos on my list with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as one of the middles. Currently it’s [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Eliane[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I repeat a lot of family names too (like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], Grace), but I don’t know that feels like a “go-to” middle since the intention is specific to use them. I do like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] with a lot of names, too.
For boys, probably [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] - I think they work really well with lots of names! Although at this point I don’t think [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is on my list at all, and I suspect I’ve only used [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and [name_u]Henry[/name_u] once each (Boaz [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] & actually, don’t even have [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] on my short list, but I do like [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and [name_u]Reef[/name_u] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] Elias).
