I have no preconceived thoughts on this name at all. I’ve never met anyone named [name]Cormac[/name]. I’ve heard of the author [name]Cormac[/name] [name]McCarthy[/name] but know nothing of him. I’m just wondering what others think of this name. What kind of boy/man do you picture when you hear [name]Cormac[/name]? I like the sound, meaning and that it’s Irish.
I’m trying to decide if I like it enough to put it on our short list…but have no opinion on it. Is that weird?
I can’t decide if I like this name or not. I want to like it because it has some of the qualities I like in a boy’s name: strong sound, offbeat feel, quirky. There’s something about it that makes me hesitate though. I think it’s the sound of the name itself. The combination of consonants feels weird in my mouth when I say it out loud.
I like it. I think it’s a great name. It sort of has a rugged/country-esque vibe to me, but that probably stems from [name]Cormac[/name] [name]McCarthy[/name]. I think it’s very distinguished and strong and I definitely like that in a boys name.
Ohhhhhh! I love it! I know this adorable 14 year old with light blonde/red, not strawberry though, with freckles and [name]Justyne[/name] cutest face named [name]Cormac[/name]! And he is a really sweet kid, his sister [name]Caroline[/name] is 16 and she babysits for me. I guess because of that connection I love it. He is really such a sweet kid I can’t picture the name on someone bad.
I like it. I personally would have a hard time saying the name over and over again, as would be required for a munchkin. But I definitely like the sound and the nn [name]Mac[/name] isn’t half bad either.
Are you Irish? Because to me, it is super Irish, but very cool. I would never try to pull it off because it seems too connected to a heritage that I don’t have.
Also, [name]Cormac[/name] [name]McCarthy[/name] is a fantastic and super popular, but the books (particularly The Road) are pretty grim often.
All that said, I think I like it. I have always said [name]Cor[/name]-mick in my head, but no idea if that is right/common pron.
[name]Love[/name] it, it’s on my list. It’s lovely and strong and rugged and so Irish (luckily DH is part irish and has an Irish surname. I love CM’s books as well.
I’ve only known one person named [name]Cormac[/name] and his family was Irish. He pronounced it [name]Cor[/name]-[name]Mack[/name]. I don’t really like it, it sounds like it should only be a last name to me.
