What are your thoughts on the name Calista?

I really like Greek mythology names and have been liking this one lately.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s usable or too connected to the actress [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockheat?

I used to love [name_f]Calista[/name_f]! It’s very sweet and spunky and sort of exotic, too. I thought [name_f]Callie[/name_f] was a sweet nn, and I now even love the idea of Liss or [name_f]Calla[/name_f], too. Especially [name_f]Calla[/name_f]! My reservation is with the one [name_f]Calista[/name_f] I met in real life. She was very uppity and stuck-up and full of herself, and that really put me off of the name. I don’t think I could ever get back into [name_f]Calista[/name_f] after that, and I expect that [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockhart’s character on the upcoming Supergirl show will put me even more off–at least, so far in the previews she sort of has. I’m sure that doesn’t mean that is what all Calistas are like, but so far my associations with Calistas haven’t been that great. :frowning: It is a gorgeous name, though, and I do objectively love it a lot.

I love [name_f]Calista[/name_f] as well as [name_f]Calixta[/name_f]. I think it’s so pretty and fun to say. Back to the question, no I don’t think it’s too tied to [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockheart especially for a girl potentially growing up up in the 2020’s.

Great name! I think it has a timeless feel and I wouldn’t automatically think of the actress. Lots of great nickname potential too, my favorite of them all being “[name_u]Cal[/name_u]”.

I like it!

I love it. I slightly prefer [name_f]Calixta[/name_f] though.

I wouldn’t worry about the association with the actress. It won’t really matter to your daughter’s generation. Plus the actress isn’t overly famous not like some celebrities that are always in the news.

I like it a lot! I think the [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockheart association is way outdated. Beautiful name.

It’s very pretty

Elegant and timeless. I really like [name_f]Calista[/name_f].

I like it a lot; very pretty and different! while [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockhart is the only [name_f]Calista[/name_f] I’ve ever heard of (outside of greek mythology), she doesn’t seem to be too popular now. I did hear she’ll be on Supergirl, but who knows how widely watched that will be?

[name_f]Calista[/name_f] is one of my favorite names! I don’t think it’s too tied to the actress. I think it’s 100% usable and lives up to it’s meaning - beautiful

I love [name_f]Calista[/name_f], the sound, the look and especially the meaning of it. I have [name_f]Callista[/name_f] on my own short list.

I like [name_f]Calista[/name_f] but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Calixta[/name_f].

[name_f]Calista[/name_f] is such a beautiful name, has a tinkling celestial feel to me but still some strength to it. I think it’s awesome

Completely usable–[name_f]Calista[/name_f] doesn’t seem to have a very high profile lately anyway. I bet few under 20 even know who she is. And the name is gorgeous!

I think [name_f]Calista[/name_f] is gorgeous. It sounds so fresh and modern but it’s got roots.

I think [name_f]Calista[/name_f] is a gorgeous, exotic and has a sweet delicate sound. She has a great range of nicknames from [name_f]Callie[/name_f] to [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and also the endearing Lissy. [name_f]Calista[/name_f] is a great name and I don’t think there is a strong connection to the actress at all.

It’s a gorgeous name with a gorgeous meaning. Although it may be tied with [name_f]Calista[/name_f] Flockhart, she’s not as big as a celebrity more. It has a bunch of cute nicknames as well. My Latin teacher recently adopted a little girl from [name_f]China[/name_f], and he named her [name_f]Calista[/name_f]. What a gem of a name!
