Hey!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering what your thoughts are on the name [name_m]Louis[/name_m]? Pronounced Loo-ee
[name_m]How[/name_m] does it go with daughters name [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]?
Thanks so much
I love it and think it goes very well.
horible fuck that name her audio :oops::oops:
I’ve always pronounced it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. The Loo-ee pronunciation seems a bit too cutesy to me. I think [name_m]Levi[/name_m] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] sounds more fitting.
I don’t know why but [name_m]Louis[/name_m] has never been appealing to me.
That’s not mature or nice. There’s no need for that.
Both [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] strike me as sweetly British. ”
Thanks everyone besides babyhaver who is using this forum sadly to be cruel and attempting to be funny.
Anyone else thoughts?
I have a friend called [name_m]Louis[/name_m], and I remember it being surprising at first because I’ve never met a [name_m]Louis[/name_m] before, but now it’s just normal, and I rarely think about it except to think that it’s a really nice, unusual name He wears it well. I would always pronounce this Loo-ee. And I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] work beautifully together.
Thank you so much for your help
Any other thoughts?
I’m familiar with [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], but if you told me Loo-ee, I would remember and you wouldn’t have to correct me again. I think it goes beautifully with [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]: a bit British, very modern classic.
I was never all that keen on [name_m]Louis[/name_m], but quite recently I’ve warmed to it. I think it’s a lovely name and loo-ee is how I automatically pronounce it (although a lot of people will say loo-iss). [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] would make a beautiful sibset too.
I’ve often felt as though [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is a bit feminine. It’s okay though and nice with [name_f]Gemma[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Such a beautiful name and perfect with [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
I love the name [name_m]Louis[/name_m] pronounced like that!! Like someone said above, both names sound very British to me and go together lovely.
I much prefer the pronunciation like “[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]”, although I think [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-ee is more common in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] and your daughter’s name makes me think you might be from the UK, which means it will stick out less. In [name_u]America[/name_u] I think most people would intuitively pronounce the S and maybe find the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation pretentious.
I like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] a lot. It is quite a common name in the UK, but not so common that it’s boring. [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-ee is how I’d pronounce it, although I do know one who pronounces it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. The [name_m]Louie[/name_m] spelling is relatively common as well - probably to avoid the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] mispronounciation, although I don’t think too many people would get it wrong as it’s quite a well-known name and spelling.
It doesn’t seem dated in the same way as [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] has more of a trendy vintage vibe and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is more 80s/90s - but they don’t clash horribly either.
