I am really struggling to come up with a girl name… I am 24 weeks pregnant and team yellow we have our boys names narrowed down to 2 which are [name_m]Locke[/name_m] or [name_m]Brody[/name_m].
but little girl names we can not think of anything we [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] we both liked [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] until people were saying its a mouthful with our surname [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m], but its the only name we can agree on it would be [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] what are peoples thoughts…???
also if you could leave some more suggestions, we love unusual names which do not sound silly…
I hate to say this, but have you ever been to [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]? I’ve lived there… Not exactly a place I would like to share a name with. And I do think that it is a little of a mouthful with your last name. I’m not really sure of your style, but here are some suggestions:
I am in the UK so no never been phoenix is it really bad, I dont know what it is with the name I just love it… but at the moment its no go
the only other name I like is Ezmai but I dont [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it its so frustrating I don’t think I am ever going to find a name we love…
I quite like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] but OH says no, and I also like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but its becoming quite poplar where I live at the moment also its another name OH has said no to.
If you’re in the UK, then [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is probably fine. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] isn’t THAT bad, it’s just not a place I would want to share a name with personally. It’s a giant concrete jungle in the middle of the arid desert of [name_f]Arizona[/name_f] (it’s not even the pretty kind of desert). Last semester, I studied the drug war in [name_f]Arizona[/name_f] in my criminal justice class… Let’s just say it’s not the best place in that regard. But, like I said, if you’re in the UK it’s probably fine. I bet barely anyone has been there. I wouldn’t sweat it.
I know finding a name you love can be really tricky! Let me throw out some more suggestions.
There are place names and there are names that also happen to be the names of places. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] strikes me as the latter, whereas names like [name_u]London[/name_u] or [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] or [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] are strictly the former. All cities have their rough spots- [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], for instance, has one of the highest murder rates per capita in the nation. So that is not a nice association. But when I meet little girls named [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], I don’t think of the city in GA. I think that in the case of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], most people would think of the mythical bird rather than the city in AZ.
It is a nice name, and I like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] together. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] does sound like a book character or something when I say it out loud, but not in a bad way. I think you should go for it, especially since you both love it.
I like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], and I associate it w/the mythology much more than the place (even though I’m in the US Midwest…but never been there). If you love, I say keep it! If you opt for [name_f]Esmee[/name_f], please use this spelling (or [name_f]Esme[/name_f], I suppose). I associate [name_f]Esme[/name_f] w/the crone/villain in the Disney series Kuzco.
great name, but not sure two f sounds in this instance are good…i might go more classic with this one so the name sounds very posh and elegant…something like gwendolyn or shorter so its easier to write…isola, isla, nova, or still longer but soft…novella, novelline, ava, azari, gioia, aria, lily, sophronia, rosabella, rosalba, rosemary, zahara, zaira, angiola, oniria, nicola, siena, genova, vita
I actually quite like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], and the alliterative qualities of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m]. I also agree that the city doesn’t really come to mind, so if you like it, go for it.
I’d also add, like another poster suggested, [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is a beautiful name that I think could be great for you.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is OK with your surname but not great. The ‘-nix fitz-’ flow is kind of weird. Also, [name_f]May[/name_f] seems so bland in between them. Is there a significance or are you just going for a 1 syllable name?
Have you considered [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]? Assuming that [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] will be called “Fi”, [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] would be better with your surname
Please, I beg of you, do not spell the wonderfully beautiful [name_f]Esme[/name_f] as Ezmai. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is, in all honesty, rather unattractive. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] is just one big tongue twister as well.
What about [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]?
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] actually sounds kinda cool!
It’s unusual but has some history.
I agree that the nix-fitz combo in [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] makes it a bit difficult to say. If you’re looking for a few more suggestions, I’d add:
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is a daring, spunky name and I can see what drew you to it but it does not sound good with [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m]. Some other girls names like it would be:
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Serafina[/name_f]
[name_f]Adira[/name_f]
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Clio[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
[name_u]Vivien[/name_u]
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
I think [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] is a lovely name, I live in the US and I think of the bird first anyway. It is a little, comic book character, with your last name but not too much. I don’t think you should let it stop you. I think [name_f]May[/name_f] is pretty and I like that it’s something more traditional and simple paired with the first name.
I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and I like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] but not with [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m]. What about:
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_u]Arya[/name_u]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_u]Madigan[/name_u]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (nn.[name_u]Rory[/name_u])
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Evanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
I love the name [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], but only on a boy. To be honest, if I heard all that name not knowing the gender I would assume [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] was a boy… I definitely prefer [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Plus I’m not crazy about [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] with your last name.
