[name_m]Even[/name_m] though we decided on [name_f]Effie[/name_f] we are just thinking it through a it now (we haven’t registered the twins births yet so we have till Thursday). We aren’t second thinking because we do really like the name but I think the thing that is perhaps off putting is that it is a nicknamey name. All of our boys have “full names” and then have nicknames (although it’s only really [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] who gets called [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] that gets a nickname the most).
Apart from [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] what could [name_f]Effie[/name_f] be short for? Or do you think it’s strong enough to stand by itself? (I think that I’m just doing my typical over worrying and thinking, I did it with all the older boys too but I still love their names now.)
I wanted to suggest [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - I think it’s perfect in your sibset! [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] nn [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is gorgeous, sweet and unexpected.
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. [name_f]Effie[/name_f] totally works as a nn for them!!
You could always play around with the idea of having two first names, possibly hyphenate them. Example: [name_f]Effie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], or [name_f]Effie[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f].
Personally i love [name_f]Effie[/name_f] on its own!! I am not too big on having a longer name with a nn. Their is one name i like as a full name with a nickname, and seriously considering having it if i have another girl-[name_f]Colette[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]. All other possible names are ones with no nicknames. I have an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and an [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Their first names, not a nickname. Family had a hard time accepting a nn as a first name, but me and husband loved the shortness and how unique they were as a first name.
[name_f]Effie[/name_f] goes so well with her twin brothers name. I would keep it as is. Such a gorgeous name!!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Esther[/name_f]? [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is a lovely, traditional name that means “star.” It’s kind of cute how it also starts with and E like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], and I much prefer [name_f]Effie[/name_f] to [name_f]Essie[/name_f] for a nickname. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is perfect!
PS I also like [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]/ [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f], although it’s not quite in keeping with the traditional, elegant style of your boys’ names.
I say just go with [name_f]Effie[/name_f]. It could certainly be short for any F name or for any Ef- or any Eph- name, but it can also stand on it’s own and I think it stands on it’s own better than it does as a nickname. There just isn’t any intuitive formal name, so if you really want her to be called [name_f]Effie[/name_f], I think you should just name her that. I will say I don’t usually like nickname-only name, but I think [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is one of the few that stand on their own just fine. It’s like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]–yes, you could use [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] for a formal first name, but it just doesn’t work as well as the nickname itself as a first name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]! I won’t give any suggestions, because you have a pretty extensive collection from previous posts, haha. But I really like [name_f]Effie[/name_f] on its own as well. Your daughters name is so charming. (I’m sure it still will be if you tweak it a bit as well) I agree, now is the time to make sure you love your little one’s name! Best of luck.
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]!! I really like [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] with all your boys names but in particular [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] make a stunning pair.
