What could Remy be a nickname for?

[name]Remy[/name] is one of those unisex names that I can’t help but love. Unisex names usually aren’t my thing, but [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Remy[/name] are the exception. But since they are unisex, and predominately male, I would prefer using them as a nickname. For [name]Romy[/name] I already have [name]Romola[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name] and (going for the big stretch) [name]Rosamund[/name]. But I can’t think of anything that [name]Remy[/name] could be a nickname for!
Can you marvelous berries help me think of a feminine name that [name]Remy[/name] could be a nickname for?
Any help is much appreciate! Thanks in advance!

I know a girl that is named Rimish@ but goes by Rimi, which is pronounced nearly the same as [name]Remy[/name].

[name]Romilly[/name]
[name]Renata[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Romina[/name]
[name]Radmilla[/name]
[name]Rafaela[/name]

I know a few girls named Remilynn and Remedio that go by [name]Rem[/name] and [name]Remy[/name]. Isn’t there a [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] character named Remelda? Sorry, just looked up the correct spelling, [name]Romilda[/name].

PS I really <3 a lot of your signature names!

Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions, it’s super nice. I’m afraid I’m rather difficult though, as none of the names are really jumping at me. If anyone has any other ideas, that’d be fantastic.
But thanks for the ideas!

[name]Remington[/name]…

I’ve done a quick search on babynamesworld, and these are the only girls names containing the letter sequence rem that come up…:
Anandaprema
[name]Drema[/name]
Eremita
Irem
Iverem
Kerem
Oluremi
Prema
Premadasi
Premarupini
Premlata
Remaziah
Remedios

The majority of the names are Sanskirt. I realise that they’re probably not names you would consider, so I think whatever name you decide on, it’s going to be a little bit of a stretch at least.

Thanks for the extra look up! I think I’ll just have to stretch it out, and see if I can fit [name]Remy[/name] in. Although, Irem and Prema are a bit interesting!

I think it could be a nn for [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]

I was going to suggest this name. I went to school with a [name_m]Remington[/name_m].

but I prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u].

And [name_f]Romola[/name_f] does not seem a fair word to name a child.

I like [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] for [name_u]Romy[/name_u].

PS I mis-typed heading, sorry!

I think it could be a nickname for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]- all the letters are there, and in the correct order. Chances are you wouldn’t have a [name_f]Romola[/name_f] and a [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

The only one I can think of would be [name_f]Remember[/name_f], besides the others you guys have already listed. Great names, though, I love both of them.

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] can be short for [name_f]Remember[/name_f].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Remus[/name_m]?

[name_f]Reuelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Reseda[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhea[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
Rema / [name_f]Rima[/name_f]

Some of them are a bit of a stretch though :). I also think that [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a good idea, like an above poster said. I love [name_u]Renny[/name_u] and [name_u]Remy[/name_u] too- their both on my list for a girl. If it was a boy, you could use [name_m]Remus[/name_m], but I don’t think there is a feminine form of [name_m]Remus[/name_m] that you could use.

[name_u]Romy[/name_u] is a typically a nickname for [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. [name_u]Romy[/name_u] means rosemary. [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f] works too. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] or [name_f]Promise[/name_f]?
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] could be nickname for Remedy. I read that is one of the meanings for it. It is the name of the spa that I go to, so it may not be suitable. It comes from the names Remigius “oarsman” and Remedius “remedy”.
You could spell [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] with an e - [name_f]Areminta[/name_f].

Thanks for the additional suggestions, guys. This thread is almost a year old, so I think I’ll close it now.
Thanks again!
