I really like the name [name]Carys[/name] but worry about it getting pronounced wrong. I have thought about [name]Karis[/name] and [name]Caris[/name]? also was wondering how most of u pronounce this name I pronounce it like [name]Paris[/name] with a K.
That’s exactly how it should be pronounced! I live in [name]Wales[/name] and speak Welsh, and I adore this name, but there are a lot of little [name]Carys[/name] and [name]Cerys[/name]’ here so I wouldn’t use it
If I lived somewhere else though I’d definitely consider it.
I’d say to spell it correctly and just explain to people how it’s pronounced. People are becoming more and more aware of Welsh, Scottish and Irish names so I don’t think it’ll be a huge problem once you’ve corrected someone.
Of the two names I prefer [name]Carys[/name] and think this would also cause you less pronounciation problems ([name]Cerys[/name] is pronounced KE-ris).
Beautiful choice, linked to the Welsh word “caru” which means to love
Also the name of [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Zeta[/name] [name]Jones[/name] and [name]Michael[/name] [name]Douglas[/name]'s daughter
a beautiful name.
I think this is a lovely name, and pronounce it the same way you do.
I think its lovely and you are pronouncing it just right. I like the original spelling better though, I find it classier and prettier. I know a girl named [name]Karis[/name], and to me that just doesn’t seem as classy as [name]Carys[/name].
Look at the other post. It’s pronounced Car-iss in Welsh, not Care-is.
I really like it. It is unique and pretty. Only use it though, if you have the patience to help people pronounce it. I chose names like [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Maya[/name] for my two oldest, even though I knew people would have a hard time spelling and/or pronouncing them. [name]Maya[/name] is often called “[name]Mia[/name]” and poor [name]Isaiah[/name]'s name is never spelled right. It does get old, but I love the names.
[name]Carys[/name] is gorgeous, I pronounce it the same way you do.
I knew someone named Karras once. The original is best, imo.
[name]Carys[/name] is said like [name]Paris[/name] everyone knows how to say it.
I really love the name [name]Karis[/name], but then again I might be partial since we have a beautiful little niece with this name.
At first I thought [name]Carys[/name] was pronounced the same, but I looked it up on another site and found that [name]Carys[/name] is technically pronounced KAH riss. Still beautiful, [name]IMO[/name].
