So recently we’ve revisited the name [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. It was a top contender for if [name_u]Toby[/name_u] had been a girl, and maybe because of that it never came up when we were discussing names for [name_f]Athena[/name_f].
And while I usually prefer longer names now the more I think about [name_f]Petra[/name_f] the more I love it!
I actually visited the city of [name_f]Petra[/name_f] on a family holiday as a child and so have wonderful memories associated with it. I also love that it means rock as hubby and I met rock climbing.
And just to be a real nerd it would mean all our kids had a name with a T, our first it’s the first letter, our second it’s the second letter and our third it’s the third letter
So what do you think of [name_f]Petra[/name_f]?
Also, today I had the idea of [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] _____ (we’d need a third [name_m]French[/name_m] middle but no idea what at this stage) with the nickname [name_f]Pixie[/name_f]!
I’d never really thought about [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] before but am kinda loving it recently, it’s meaning is just so gorgeous (she who brings happiness) and my aunty gave me the [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] books when I was a child which I loved (also it reminds me a bit of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]!)
What are your thoughts on [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Pixie[/name_f]?
And any ideas for a third middle? It would need to be [name_m]French[/name_m]
I absolutely love [name_f]Petra[/name_f], it’s one of my favorite names that isn’t in my signature! And [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is also a favorite & I never thought of it as a middle for [name_f]Petra[/name_f], but I think it’s very beautiful. It sounds lovely with [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! I do think [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is cute too & works with that combo. I’ll admit I’m not too versed in [name_m]French[/name_m] names, but [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] would be really pretty!
I love both [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! I’m not a nickname person as I would love her name and only want to use it and [name_f]Petra[/name_f] is a short name, but [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] definitely works. My only reservation about [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] if it is what she would be known as, as opposed to only being called that occasionally at home, is that I think it works better for a small stature girl or a child.
I love [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. It’s one of my absolute favorite names ever. I think of the ancient city [name_f]Petra[/name_f] which makes me love the name even more.
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is definitely not my usual style, but I’ve actually really grown to like it! I think it might be due to the character [name_f]Petra[/name_f] on the CW’s show [name_f]Jane[/name_f] the Virgin, and hearing the name over and over made me like it a lot more. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is cute!
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is a bit harsh-sounding to my ear. I’ve always had that impression and can’t quite shake it. However, your associations with it make it completely different for you, and the more meaningful the name, the better. I have similar associations with the name [name_u]Carmel[/name_u] - the place, and the meaning of orchard. So, I’d stick with it if the meaning and the sound work for you.
I’m sort of neutral on [name_f]Petra[/name_f], but I adore [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] does sound very nice!
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] is a fabulous name – sassy, strong and uncommon yet universally familiar. I file it mentally with funky Nordic/Germanic/vintage names like [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is great and the nickname [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is inspired! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
I’m really loving the suggestions of [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Raphaelle[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] so far; I think the combo needs a softer third name to balance things out.
I like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] quite a bit & think it goes well w/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]…the fact that the names have a lot of meaning to you & your husband is great! For a third name, & [name_m]French[/name_m], maybe…
While [name_f]Petra[/name_f] isn’t totally my style, I really love the name, and would love to meet a little [name_f]Petra[/name_f]! [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is lovely, and [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is a super cute nn, plus I love the personal connection to the meaning. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] sounds fantastic with [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f] as well, and I like that you’ve got your little t theme going on, but it’s subtle enough that it doesn’t sound that matchy.

I love [name_f]Petra[/name_f] it reminds me of the character from Enders game strong but kind. I’ve always loved [name_f]Petra[/name_f] nn [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] even though that’s longer or the same length I suppose it’s more like a pet name than a nickname. I think [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is adorable though and I wouldn’t worry about it being to youthful or small sounding I think names that family use are kind of ageless for example I’m on my 20s and my family still calls me [name_u]Boo[/name_u].
