Okay I knew this one family where they called their grandfather Grumpy. LOL! I thought that was so hilarious. It totally fits him too. I think Grampy is fun though. (If you aren’t grumpy) I like Grampy and Grams. I think that’s what my Mom and Dad are going to be called when they get grandkids. I’d like to be called [name]Mimi[/name] or [name]Nana[/name].
I call my grandparents Grandma & Grandpa and [name]Nana[/name] & Pa.
I just had a baby girl & after lots of debate my parents chose to be called Granny & Gramps.
Im italian and i want my baby to call my parents [name]Nonna[/name] (Grandmother) and Nonno (Grandfather) or [name]Nonna[/name] (Grandmother) and Pappa (Pap). or [name]Gram[/name] and Pap or Grandmom and grandad. or Mam and Gramp. Or Grandma [name]Kris[/name] ([name]Kristine[/name]) or [name]Nonna[/name] [name]Kris[/name] and/or Grandpa [name]Mark[/name] or Nonno [name]Mark[/name]. theres soo many names to call your parent’s parents!
I have only really known one Grandmother and I called her Grandma [name]Betty[/name]. My other Grandmother died when I was 3, but my sister and family called her Grammy. My mothers father was never in my life, but he is in my cousins and they call him ‘pap pap’ and his new wife ‘nana’. I met my dads father once and called him Grandpa, but he lived far away and has passed away now.
The situation my fiancee and I are in, his parents are both divorced & remarried so there are 2 Grandma’s & Grandpas right there. My parents are not together but not with anyone else, so now 3 and 3. My best friends mother is like a mom to me and her and her husband will be another Grandma and Grandpa to the baby.
I am just worried everyone will be Grandma ‘Name’ and Grandpa ‘Name’. I like Gammy and Gran for Grandma and Papa and Pappy for Grandpa. My dad already refers to himself as ‘Pappy’ to my dogs, especially when they go visit him.
I called my grandmothers grandma (eventually this turned to gram, when I became a teenager) and my grandfathers poppy.
We assigned different names to each of our parents when [name]Floss[/name] was born…They just had to deal with the names they got!! So, we have [name]Nanny[/name] & Grandad and Grandma & Grandpa just to avoid confusion over who we were refering too!
[name]Both[/name] my maternal and paternal grandparents were Grandma & Grandpa. When my youngest cousin was 2 he started calling the maternal pair, [name]Honey[/name] and Papa. I was about 8 at the time and was confused but went with it. Then puberty set in, and I rebelled! Yup. They became Grandma and Grandpa again. Rebellion can be pretty harsh, eh?
My son only has one grandparent. Her nn is Gege, and she prefers Grandma.
My grandparents are Grams and Gramps and Grandma and Grandpa, fairly standard.
My nieces and nephews call my parents Grammy and Grandpa [name]Doc[/name], because my dad is an M.D and I think it’s pretty cute and unusual.
My grandfather is called “Pops” by everyone (his kids, his grandkids, friends of the family). My husband’s grandfather and grandmother on his father’s side are called “Papa [name]Bino[/name]” and “Grandma [name]Bino[/name]” ([name]Bino[/name] is part of their last name).
This may sound strange but all the grandkids have evolved from calling my grandma , Grandma [name]Jean[/name] ([name]Jean[/name] is her 1st name) to just [name]Jean[/name] and we call my grandfather Pa, She actually really likes just being called by her first name by her grandkids her great grandkids call her Grama [name]Jeana[/name]. My own parents go by Grammy and Papa to their grandkids.
