What do you think about the name Harbour? Cute or too quirky?
[name_f]My[/name_f] first impression is that the name Harbour would be chosen by parents who like [name_u]Harper[/name_u] but think it is too popular. These soundalike names are sort of a pet peeve of mine, so that is all I’ll say.
I really liked [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] as a middle name until I couldn’t find a good first name to go with it. I don’t think it’s poised to make the greatest first name option to be honest.
Not a huge fan.
It does sound like [name_u]Harper[/name_u] when you say it, i think people would assume thats is what your saying when you say Harbour… also people may spell it [name_u]Harbor[/name_u].
If you looking for something oceany i would try something else… [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Marine[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f] or [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
I don’t like it at all. Sorry!
It’s all word to me not a name. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Harper[/name_u], but I think it’s a better choice.
First thought: “Harbour…ing a fugitive”. Too quirky for me.
As previously stated by other posters it seems like you were going for [name_u]Harper[/name_u] but it was too popular for you.
I’m going to go against popular opinion here and say…I like it! To me, it follows the same vein as [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] [name_f]Alba[/name_f] naming her daughter [name_u]Haven[/name_u]. [name_u]Harbor[/name_u]/Harbour to me connotes a safe place, shelter, home, etc. Like the U2 lyric “a harbor in the tempest.” (All I Want is You)
If you’re American, however, I would think about spelling it [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] to avoid spelling errors, but it’s really up to you.
Oh the teasing possibilities. Think about the purpose of a harbor.
I like both [name_u]Harbor[/name_u]/our and [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] is brash and makes me think of harpies, therefore I only like it for boys. Harbour has a soothing feel.
I think it has a positive vibe, I actually kinda like the Harbour spelling, makes it seem more surname than place name…if that makes sense?
I like it. I do feel like it would be confused with [name_u]Harper[/name_u] though so I think it would actually work better as a middle.
Like another poster, I thought of the U2 lyric and the “safe place” vibe. It’s NMS but I think it’s useable.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t like it in the middle. Like [name_u]Bay[/name_u], once it’s in the middle with a feminine first name, it sounds like a all-inclusive resort to me.
I really like Harbour. It feels like a virtue name to me since harbors are safe havens. It probably would be confused with [name_u]Harper[/name_u] a lot, but if that doesn’t bother you then I say go for it. I would use the [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] spelling instead of Harbour if you’re in the US to avoid confusion with the spelling.
Not a fan. Sounds like a good place to picnic, though.
Well, some word names don’t really work. As a whole, it’s fine, but think of the nicknames she/he will get. It’ll either be Har or Boar (neither of which is all that attractive). Or Harb, which is an even yuckier version of [name_f]Barb[/name_f]. Personally, I’d never name a kid that. If you want something with the same connotations, I’d go for [name_u]Haven[/name_u].
