[name_u]Mason[/name_u] is a great boys name and i like this feminine spelling and it could be shortened to [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or Maesy (may-see).
honest opinions please!
I highly dislike it.
There isnāt any point of using a different spelling since everyone will hear it as [name_u]Mason[/name_u] anyways. You could just use [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but alternatives to get to [name_f]Mae[/name_f]:
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeby[/name_f]
[name_f]Maven[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
Maesyn is not a feminine spelling of [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. Itās a bad misspelling of [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. If you want to name your daughter [name_u]Mason[/name_u], go right ahead. But please do not use this misspelling.
I would just spell it [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and give her a really feminine middle name. I am not big on alternate spellings of names. She would have to spend her whole life having to spell it for people and that will get annoying fast. However, if you plan to call her [name_u]Macey[/name_u]/[name_f]Macy[/name_f] why not just name her that? I quite like it.
I also really dislike it. The spelling and the name for a girl. I think naming her [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] or some other girl name would be the best route.
I agree with PPs, how about
[name_f]Maysa[/name_f] or Maysun ([name_f]May[/name_f]-soon)
I find it tacky :S
I donāt think it has to be spelled āMaesynā in order to nickname her [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Macy[/name_f]. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] seems like a perfectly reasonable nickname for a girl named [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. (Itās not my style at all, but I know of girls named [name_u]Mason[/name_u].)
The only other spelling Iād remotely consider would be Masyn, so that you/she would only have to say ā[name_u]Mason[/name_u] with a Yā instead of spelling it out every time.
Maesyn does have that ācreativeā look that nameberry turns up its collective nose at, but I think itās lovely and feminine and fits perfectly out there in the real world of names. If you love it I hope you wonāt be discouraged by negative feedback in this little corner of the internet.
I liked ppās suggestion of Masyn ā[name_u]Mason[/name_u]-with-a-Yā for spelling simplicity and [name_f]May[/name_f] or Masy could be the natural nicknames.
But the Maesyn spelling is more feminine.
I love it! I actually recommended [name_u]Maison[/name_u] recently, pretty much pronounced the same way. Itās the name of a celebrity baby, [name_u]Misha[/name_u] [name_u]Collins[/name_u] and his wife [name_f]Vicki[/name_f]'s baby [name_u]Maison[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_u]Collins[/name_u]. I think if you like the name, go for it. At the very least, there will be a slight relation to [name_u]Misha[/name_u] [name_u]Collins[/name_u], ruler of the universe and leader of the Mishapocalypse
I would go with [name_u]Mason[/name_u] if you really like the name. [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Macy[/name_f]/[name_f]Macie[/name_f] are great alternatives with similar sound. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a viable nickname for all of these. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t feel like you have to change the spelling to make [name_u]Mason[/name_u] more feminine. You can always go with a more feminine middle name to signify the sex of your child, and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a feminine nickname.
I donāt like to say I hate a name, but you asked for honest opinions and I really, really, really donāt like this name. I think if youāre going to give your daughter a boyās name, just give her the boyās name. I donāt understand the need āFeminizeā a name that isnāt feminine. It just leads to confusion.
I like [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl and would spell it [name_f]Macyn[/name_f]. (A smooth of [name_f]Mai[/name_f] and [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f].)
Honestly, itās atrocious.
I greatly despise boys names on girls, itās just the cherry on top spelling it like you are. I am aware that itās your decision, call your child whatever you want- but it seems very counter productive to name your daughter a masculine name and then change the spelling in an attempt to āfeminizeā it. You might as well just go with a feminine name. [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is tolerable on a girl, far better than Maesyn.
[name_f]EDIT[/name_f]: Perhaps I was a bit harsh on you but I just really do not enjoy Maesyn. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or Maesy if you please. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is also adorable. Again, apologies for my very opinionated comments.
Itās unnecessarily complicated and fussy. Why not pick a name thatās actually unique rather than strong-arming a boyās name to make it seem āfeminineā?
I dont really like that spelling. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Mayson[/name_u]?
Or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_u]Madison[/name_u] nn [name_f]Mae[/name_f] .
I would just like to point out that even if OP went with the spelling Masyn, ā[name_u]Mason[/name_u]-with-a-Yā could still unfortunately be misunderstood as [name_u]Mayson[/name_u]. No matter how you slice it, I think alternate spellings get confusing.
For the record, I know more female Masons than male Masons. The name seems to be shifting to the girl side.
If youāre set on [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl, my favorite spelling is [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. If you want to make it feminine looking [name_u]Maison[/name_u] and Masyn both arenāt horrible.
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] could totally work as a nickname for [name_u]Mason[/name_u].
Sorry for all the HIGHLY dramatic negative opinions on this nameā¦ I love [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for girl and all of the various spellings that you could use. [name_u]Mason[/name_u] by itself is quite boring, however changing it to Maisyn, Maesyn, [name_f]Maysyn[/name_f] (I could keep going with different spellings) brings a much needed freshness to it. I actually know a Maisyn and a [name_m]Masen[/name_m] that are girls and they are adorable! Itās not tacky, atrocious or any of the other things that people have said here. And definetly not confusing. Thereās nothing to be confused about. You like The name. Itās a great name for a girl. Thereās nothing wrong with Changing the spelling of a name people!!! So ridiculous!
