I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]! It’s a classic but also not very common right now. It has so many nickname options too!

It’s not my cup of tea. I find the sound rather harsh and to me it seems old-fashioned and not in a flattering way. I prefer the sound of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. However, I know a lot of people love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] so perhaps mine is an unpopular opinion.

I really want to like it, but I just can’t can’t completely get past the old lady thing. I’d consider as a middle (family) name, but I prefer [name_f]Ingaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Magali[/name_f].

Not keen. I definitely wouldn’t call it a “classic” it’s more up there with gladys and doris (very old fashioned) I think she would be abit embarrassed to have that name in a sea of Avas and isabellas.

I don’t like the sound of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but it’s a solid classic choice and I love all the nicknames! [name_f]Meg[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] are my favorites, but [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] are so sweet as well.

Solid and classic with nn potential

I adore [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]! She’s lovely, and she’s got the coolest nicknames. I have a cousin named [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], and she’s the funniest, most compassionate person. I associate those things with her name! :relaxed:
[name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Mags[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f] … all just awesome.

I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]!

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is a lovely regal classic with a understated little black dress vibe making her very timeless. To me [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] feels powerful and almost authoritative very strong. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has the lovely meaning pearl and a range of lovely nicknames. I would love to give [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] a fun word name as her middle name like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] & [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u].

It’s not my favorite personally.

Maybe [name_f]Margot[/name_f]? As an alternative.

I don’t feel strongly about it negatively nor positively.

It’s still considered the go-to old lady name to use in examples in my opinion, but it isn’t as inherently connected to that image as [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] or [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f]. It veres more to timeless classic, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

There’s value in that people know how to spell and pronounce it intuitively. A classic FN also means there’s more room for an unusual/guilty pleasure MN.

Also so many nicknames! The sweet [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] and [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], the substantial [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_f]Mags[/name_f], the tom-boyish Ret or [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] - all pluses if you’re a nickname kind of person.

It is a nice name, but not very exciting. I prefer [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f].

I can’t say I’ve ever liked [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think it’s something about the sound of that last syllable that turns me off because I adore Margot/Margaux.
